NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. That's not even it... That's his normal look... His Freaky "What the hell do we do look" he gets when he's running around and under the gun.... The picture you show is probably of him at half time or something.... "Ummm, Herm, it's half time - time to go to the locker room now"
Alright, I would blame a combination of poor front office work (failing to sign Antoine Winfield or upgrade the offensive line before last season) and terrible luck (I've rarely seen a season crippled by injuries like that before.) All I said is that the Jets did well with Herm running the show. He never missed the playoffs if you take out the seasons where he didn't have his starting QB (last season he was also down a backup QB, 2 runningbacks, an offensive line and most of a defense.)
Yes, but you said we should also blame people who are currently with the organization for those mistakes/mishaps. I was wondering who you were talking about.
The Previous administration took over a 1 & 15 team and compiled a 38 & 26 record and a trip to the AFC Finals. They never had a lossing record even though they had several QB injuries. Herm took over a 9 & 7 team with 4 No. 1 draft choices going into their second year and 5 years later he compiled a losing record and left the team a complete disaster.
Really Bradway was the major problem IMO. I forgot to mention his decision to trade up for Dewayne Robertson, which cost us an opportunity to draft Troy Polamalu, Rex Grossman, Willis McGahee, Larry Johnson or a host of other players who we could really use right now (yes I know we had a QB and a RB but hindsight is 20/20.)
Herm and company took over an aging 9 & 7 team and a mess of a salary cap and managed to squeeze a few playoff berths out of it and then undergo a quick rebuilding process which was derailed by an unbelievable rash of injuries leading to another salary cap mess.
Thanks JetBlue! Not only did Herm move Ellis inside...but a 3 year old kid knew we needed a run stopping DT before the season...which neither Herm nor Bradway could produce...until out of nowhere they signed Steve Martin. I admit to making a joke of Martin, but he played great and solidified the Dline. Let me ask you, who did Herm develop on the Dline? Abraham never did more than use the talent he had...he still hasn't learned a thing in his career. Ellis has improved then declined. Robertson is a dissapointment. Thomas a bust. Who did Herm develop on the Dline? Herm and Co stuck with slow old LB's for all but the final year of their tenure. How could Teddy C make these guys faster and better tacklers? They were toast when he got there. Herm puts Farrior in the dog house, and now look! Sure, Herm did a great job developing Farrior. Hobson? Talent unfulfilled. Vilma...I don't think you'd give Herm any credit for Vilma, would you? He'd do the same or better anywhere.
He had a team set up to win his first two years and kept Chad on the bench. After it was painful watching the LB corp they finally brought in a couple of replacements. They actually sqeezed 1 playoff birth in 04 out of that rebuild and basically did it by beating up on a pretty easy schedule. The one bright thing Herm did as HC was look at the 04 schedule and run a hard training camp to prepare for the easy front load on the schedule. The team beat up on the weak teams early and eaked into the playoffs after a pretty weak stretch run. Just as astounding Herm decides to run a country club training camp in 05 and half the team goes down. The guy just never got it.
no more marshmellow roasts. and the ones that show they're out of shape will find outhow easily replaced they will be with guys that actually want to work.
KC was 44-36 over the same span w/ 1 PO appearance and ZERO playoff wins. Which record would you rather have? and I know if KC makes the playoffs this year people will say he inherited a playoff team but that "playoff team" made it ONCE in 8 years and missed the 2 previous playoffs before Herm just like the Jets had made it once in 9 years when he took over and missed the 2 previous years before he got there.
I think the fact that Curtis was there at the Mangini press conference gave an indication that Herm's clock expired
Don't worry- his sorry ass won't make the playoffs- then you'll be able to listen to his spoon-fed BS over the course of the coming offseason, as he gives excuse after excuse... I really can't wait for this guy to fail again, in fact I welcome the day when he does...
yeah b/c he was so awful to us, it really sucked making the playoffs 3 times in 5 years when in our 40+ year history prior to him we made it 8 times total. I hate making the playoffs
