VG, Harris, Pace, Thomas or are they gonna run a rotation on the outside? i imagine they can line up gholston at DE and run a 4-3 will be interesting to watch
Uh, no. Bryan Thomas sucks, he's going to be coming off the bench to give Pace/Gholston a break. Its going to look like this Gholston, Harris, Barton, Pace.
I was just thinking this myself - I think Pace moves inside like Adalius Thomas, though hopefully more successfuly. I think it's Thomas, Pace, Harris and Gholston. Or, if they "want to ease him in to the lineup" (read: are fucked), Pace, Barton, Harris, Thomas, and Gholston in pass rushing situations.
Thomas is still the starter. He is solid against the run and can drop in coverage as well. Gholston is a 3rd down rush specialist until he proves he can do anything else.
I think from what I heard them talking about pace, they love his ability to do so many things at the olb position hes crazy versatile and a good rusher when rushing, you have him at one outside spot and a monster rusher in VG at the other who still is learning how to play the run and cover better and stick a beast like harris in the middle, rbs will be cutting back for losses many games
The thing which is intriguing about Vernon is hes still learning, if he gets better at the run and coverage you have one heck of a lb
Thomas will move to the other side where he is more comfortable and thus more successful. Pace will take Barton's starting position. Harris is the same. and Gholston will fight through his "rep" and win the other outside linebacker position from which he will rush the passer. That's what I think might very well happen to the LBs.
I can't imaging them moving a rushing OLB (Pace) to an inside spot. That would be totally taking away his strength.
If Pace doesn't play LOLB I will be shocked. The guy was very good at that spot in 2007. I saw about 12 Cardinals games last year. He better play predominantly on that side. Harris and Barton will be inside, obviously. Thomas should start. The rookie will spell Pace and Thomas.
Quote: "...If Pace doesn't play LOLB I will be shocked. The guy was very good at that spot in 2007. I saw about 12 Cardinals games last year. He better play predominantly on that side...." The NYJs play a hybrid 3-4 / 4-3 that uses the LBs very differently than the 3-4 or the 4-3. I don't think it's possible to compare the Cards' defense with the NYJs defense.
I think Thomas will be out of the starting line-up. Gholston is better without a doubt. Just my opinion. Gholston-Harris-Barton-Pace=DOMINANT. Don't forget Kris Jenkins in front of them. I like it.
Pace used to be a D-end.....I highly doubt he'll move to inside linebacker, that's insane. He's definitely going to stay on the outside
Exactly, Thats whats its goinig to look like. Anyone saying Pace will be playing ILB knows nothing about football, so stop those right now.
