is now a backup right tackle for the Frankfurt Galaxy. So much for him being a steal in th 6th round last year.

If anyone puts on NFL Netowork, the Frankfurt Galaxy are playing the Hamburg Sea Devils. On the Galaxy, there are a few Jets players, including Isaac Snell and Charles Missant, their start center and right guard.

Speaking of those two, Roger Robinson, a Cardinals RB, just had a long TD run thanks to Missant and Snell's blocking... Snell really bitched the DT and took him completely out of the play. Missant looked good, too.

The other two Jets playing are Jovan Witherspoon, the #4 receiver for the Sea Devils, and James Taylor, the #4 DB for the Galaxy.

RT? That's crazy, I was dissapointed when we didn't take him with our 3rd rounder last year.

This is a glaring reminder of why you can't put a hell of a lot of weight behind a lot of this mock draft business. The draftniks had no idea that no team considered him a day 1 pick.

Yes I am shocked to hear this... I don't think I've ever seen a prospect drop from a 1st round status to a practice squad guy at a different position in just one season.

Only reason A hawthorne not starting at DT is that he just was alloted to NFL Europe late last week. Has to get into playing shape. All those players had a training camp to get ready. (I bet thats the only reason hes not starting) A Hawthorne was on Raiders practice squad last season and only played in one game. Raiders are get him some playing experience. Hes going to be a big part of Raiders future. Will back up Sapp and take over for him in 2007.

He has to mean RDT not right tackle. HE plays the W sapp position. Again only reason A Hawthorne not starting is he just went over to Europe late last week.(not ready yet) Best player Raiders ever sent to NFL Europe was Laroi GLover. They normally don't send their top players to europe, after losing a player to injury over there. I think they know hes going to be W sapp backup this year and they are getting him some playing experience.(ready to start in 2007)

That's what getting caught with drugs does to a prospect. He already had maturity issues, add that in and you get a mighty fall. Kid's still a talented player, he just will have a much more difficult road to being a quality NFL player than he would have had if he just kept it clean. Same goes for Claude Wroten this year, he was cruising to a 1st round spot in this DT class, drugs get him, and now no one knows.

All the Raiders are doing is getting him some game experience as he going to be W Sapp backup this year.(plays the same position) Guarantee once he gets some practices under his belt he will be starting DT in Europe. I Was supprised Raiders sent him so late to NFl Europe. ( rosters were finalized already) Raiders coaches might have made a deal with Franfurt that they only play him a certain amount of snaps(don't want to wear him out for NFL season) I wouldn't look at how much he playing but what hes does when hes in their.

BTW If you look at whose hes backing up its a National player. I believe National player has to play so many snaps.(something like that)

I don't understand what changing a position(if he did) would mean there no hope for him. Happens quite a bit that guys playing as Olineman get moved to defense side of ball and vice versa. Quite common and there alot of sucess stories both ways. Your own OG brandon moore was a DT that switched sides.

I think your jumping the gun there a little bit. Let me get this straight, just because Raiders sent him to NFL Europe means its validates that no team thought he was a first day selection. LMAO LEts see Raiders once sent Laroi Glover to Europe. Tom Kelly(Raiders best Dlineman) was Projected to go in the third round and he was undrafted FA. Yea teams aren't kicking themselve now.

Nobody really cares what a player does in Europe(sucess in europe dosen't validate that he will b e a player in NFL) or where they were drafted.

All we can do is judge a player on what he does in the NFL . Lets see what kind of career A hawthorne has in NFL before we bury him.
BTW Tell me hinestly you wouldn't want 23 A hawthorne over 28 year old Pouha

Well for someone who many of the critics figured was possibly a first round draft pick last year (I guess not the GMs), to change position would be farely surprising, Moore was a DT but not one that was scouted as highly as Hawthorne. He is also a rare exception to the rule, from one side of the line to the other is a big change and nomally a position change of that degree means "shit well we drafted this guy, I guess lets give him a chance somewhere else before we cut him", if he fits then great if not they have at least exhausted their optiions.

I didn't even see that it was under defense. My bad. As far as changing positions, didn't Brandon Moore start off as a DT? Isaac Snell, as well.

Your kidding right. There have been alot of guys that have switched from Oline to defenseline and vice Versa.
Moore is not a rare exception, it happens quite a bit.
Charles spencer (Pitt) was a Dt until his junior year and now one top guards in this draft. Terdel sands 6'7 345 was a OT that made the switch to DT.
Chargers Olineman Courtney Van Buren moved from Dt to Oline. Steve Hutchinson came to MIchigan as DT and was changed to Oline.

There are so many players that have made sucessfully transition.

Changing in college is alot different than changing in the pros,

    Courtney Van Buren:

    http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/vanburen_courtney

    HIGH SCHOOL
All-city, all-conference and all-metro two-way lineman at Ladue Horton Watkins (St. Louis, Mo.) High ? Also lettered in
    1998 SEASON
Redshirted as a freshman ? Performed on the scout team as a defensive tackle.
    1999 SEASON
Shifted to right offensive tackle, starting six games as a redshirt freshman.

1 season as a pure DT does not constitute a complete switch, especially freshman

    Terdell Sands

Played DT at Chatanooga, was drafted as a DT
    http://ww1.nfleurope.com/thunder/playerprofiles/2002/sands.html

    College:
Played only one season at Tennessee-Chattanooga during the 1999 season... Finished his season playing in 11 games and starting eight of them and accruing 36 tackles, 8 of them for a loss, a sack, 2 passes defensed, 2 fumble recoveries and a forced fumble... Did not play football in 2000, 1998 or 1997.

    Personal:
All-State and All-City performer following his junior and senior seasons and was voted Chattanooga's Defensive Player of the Year as a senior at Howard High School... Majored in physical education at UT-Chattanooga.

well looks like he was a DT as well throughout college, well when he was playing

    Charles Spencer,

You are right on this one, but still he changed in college at junior level

    Hutchinson,

you said it already he changed prior to Michigan, high school transitions are not tough to make

Well I guess it is a little more rare then you thought, eh,
