Quote: "...Lee 'Hacksaw' Hamilton reported that the Jets were in talks with the Raiders about a possible draft day trade to send a defensive lineman to the Raiders to move up from 6 to 4...."

Oh my, absolutely! Let's throw a DL and another draft pick (how about 36!) so we can move up two spaces and pay our No. 1 $25 million guaranteed, instead of $20 million so the Pats can't thwart us.

It's those Pesky Pats onct again. How can we stop those Pesky Pats from ruining our Draft Day!?

I know, let's ignore the bastards. Just do our own thing.

    How about it?

Tannenbaum, he says, "we have to be happy about picking any one of six guys at No. 6 -- whatever happens."

I wouldn't count on it. The following scenario is completly plausible.

    2) Rams - C. Long or Gholston
    3) Falcons - Dorsey or Ryan
    4) Raiders - McFadden
    5) Chiefs - the DE that the Rams don't take

Trading up means more money to sign. I would stay at 6. I think we are pretty much guaranteed to get one of Long/Gholston/McFadden.

I think TanGini regime is smart. Whatever move they make, I'll be happy. Even if they move down, up or stand pat.

This is how I see it happen...

    1. Dolhins...J Long
    2. Rams...Gholston
    3. Falcons...Ryan
    4. Raiders...C Long/McFadden
    5. Chiefs...Ellis
    6. Jets...McFadden/C Long

So far I have the first one right...lol

Unless we are afraid gholston will be snatched by the raiders or chiefs, stay put.

my fear is that we're left with a choice of Matt Ryan or trade down. Ryan is the best QB in the draft yes, but he's not a special QB and IMHO is more likely to turn out like another Ryan and be a leaf blown in the wind.

I like Coleman but I'd do this if it means getting Long. You can always nab a 3-4 DE in the second or later in the draft like Dre Moore or Kendall Langford.

To be fair here, Leaf was full of ego. Ryan seems to be a much nicer guy and I do see him succeed in the NFL. If we draft Ryan, I wont be too happy but I wont be sad either. The TanGini Regime seems to be pretty good in drafts so I expect them to find a solid starter with the 6th.

I would do this in a heart beat. Viable options in the second round will be available for a 3-4 DE like Dre Moore, Pat Sims, or possibly even Kentwan Balmer.

How much did Coleman get in guarantees when we signed him last year? Wouldn?t we take a big Caphit if we trade him?

btw, is there a Chance, the Raiders will finally swith to a 34? They are not attempting to replace sapp, give Kelly (who is imo best suited to play DE in a 34) big $$$ and now want Coleman?

but they don't have to move past KC to get McFadden. Why leapfrog KC unless it is for Gholston--or Ryan?

I want them to sit tight at pick the BPA at the #6 spot. Targeting specific players is too costly. Unless that player is my man David Harris, or course...

Balmer will be gone by the second round, if they trade Coleman they would probably use D-Rob at DE which might be a good fit since a 3-4 DE in Coleman's position is basically a DT in a 4-3.

That won't happen unless he renegotiates which he isn't inclined to do apparently.

Stop the insanity! I hate all this pre-draft speculation going on about trades and picks. I love this board but I may have to cut myself off until the draft starts.

Why would we trade our only true 3-4 DE so we could move up 2 slots to get a player that will cost us more? And people who say this move is to draft Ryan make me want to throw up in my mouth.

Its not just this site, its NFL Network, ESPN, NEwsday and everywhere. These people sound like jack asses. First, most of these people except for guys like Kiper, as in Peter King and Mike Golic do not even watch college football, they are so called pro football experts and they talk like they watched every snap of a particluar player. They are just forming their opinions based on what they heard or read, no first hand knowledge. Secondly, everything that we hear is all bullshit. No NFL team shows their hand. Can we just get to Sat. at 3pm already.

If you hate it why are you reading it? As far as Coleman is concerned, if he is worth keeping they will keep him. If he could be replaced by Chris Long my guess is they will do it in a minute.

    Live with it.

    C.Long->OLB
    Coleman->DE

If we trade Coleman (which wouldn?t make any sense to me), we would have to draft a 34 DE (probably Moore, or a Tradeup back into the late 1st for Balmer). That would be against our FO?s draft philosophy to be set before the Draft and not having to fill needs.

I would not do it. Coleman is solid. He adds stability and has a year in the system. We just added Jenkins. I am not opposed to getting Long for depth if he is available. But I am not in favor of trading coleman to accomplish this.
