I will admit I don't know a whole lot about Matt Ryan, but what I have seen of him I don't really feel like it will be a good pick for the Jets. I would honestly be very unhappy. I would rather see what Clemens can do with our improved O LINE or even Chad. Anyone else unhappy about these rumors if they hold true? I hope I am wrong...
I agree. While I have only seen a few of his games, most of the analysis I have seen of Ryan says in most draft years he would not be taken in the top 10-15 picks. His status this year seems to be a factor of a weak quarterback crop. I think we should improve our pass rush with Gholston (hopefully) and see how Clemens or Chad perform with a stronger OLine. If that doesn't work out, we can look to next year's draft for a QB, when there will hopefully be a stronger crop coming out.
Actually most of what's been said has been very complimentary. Most give grades similiar to Rothlesberg, Rivers and Carson Palmer.
i would probably be pretty pissed. i'd be more mad though if we traded UP to get Ryan. if he falls to us and the FO believes he is the BPA and could be a franchise QB for this team, then make the pick. with that said, only if C. Long, Gholston, and McFadden are off the board by 6.
He isn't even close to Palmer, and below Rothlesburger and Rivers. In fact this QB class is pretty weak overall. Ryan wasn't even accurate in college and he threw a lot of INTs, he will only get worse in the pros. To me the only reason he is rated this high is just because of his position.
Matt Ryan reaching his full potential would have more impact to the Jets long term success than any other player in the draft. I would not be upset if we picked Ryan..
I believe Ryan is in the same class as Roethlisberger and Rivers. Ryan is an accurate QB. I have watched him play. Ryan threw 654 passes in 2007. He threw 19 interceptions. Dan Marino threw 380 passes in 1981. He threw 378 passes in 1982. He threw 23 interceptions in each of those years. So let's compare 654 and 19 to 755 and 46. There is no rule that states if a QB throws a certain number of interceptions in college, he is doomed to fail in the NFL. I love how people find one thing to knock a player about and ignore a dozen good things about the guy.
Right, because the Jets are gonna go 13-3 and win the AFC East? "WRITE IT DOWN GUYS!" To be perfectly honest...the Jets need to emulate what Cleveland and San Diego has done. Our QB position is in the air right now and that is one position you don't want to have a "plan". We desperately need a face to the franchise and Matt Ryan would be a great person to fill that void. Am I saying the Jets HAVE to draft Ryan to have a successful draft? No, but as fans we should realize that this front office is fairly good at locating talent. If they believe Matt Ryan can win us a championship...they should go get him and we should be excited if they do so.
Did we really give up on Kellen Clemens already? Let's see how he does after two major offensive line upgrades and a year of experience under his belt. No need to go for a QB like Ryan yet.
No. If Clemens can't handle competing with Ryan for the job, he's not the guy I want to be the QB. Ryan's certainly a gamble, like any QB, but if he realizes his potential, he's by far the best pick the Jets can make.
the only way i wouldn't mind drafting matt ryan is if long, mcfadden, and ghoulston are all off the board which most likely won't happen, but you never know. I think matt ryan will be a very good qb in the nfl, he is the reason BC got as far as they did this year.
anyone saying anything about matt ryan being innacurate or having a weak arm has never seen him play. Those claims are flat out wrong. period.
If you read thru the other threads we have going on you would see there are in fact others on here that do not like Matt Ryan.
