does anyone realize this is manginis defense? if ur the HC and u think ur DC is that bad you step in. so even if this wasnt manginis defense itd be his fault for not taking official control. this talk is ridiculous. lol. u guys dont think mangini can make that d do whatever he wants?
I have never seen that side of Gholston so far. He doesn't seem like the quiet guy he made out to be. I can't for this draft it is going to be sick..
of course its his D, but he took play calling away from Sutton. No HC wants to do that. He wants to impose his schemes, but not worry about play calling. You should know this.
After our bye-week, SOMETHING happened, Mangini's input? Sutton's ideas? I don't think we'll ever know, but they came out a completely different D.
I really think he is gone by 6. If we really want him, we have to trade up to the Raiders spot. I think if Gholston is on the board at #5 and especially if McFadden and Chris Long are already gone, New England will spend their last pick to snatch Gholston from under our noses; you can take this to the bank. I think we have a better chance of getting McFadden than Gholston. I am not saying I don't want him; I am saying I would be shocked if Gholston fell to #6.
I am going to go on record as saying I think Gholston is going to be available at 6 and we are going to either pass or trade out of the spot. I also think NE passes and he drops to 8, 9, 10 area. My prediction is he is the last man standing in the green room this year.
I gotta agree and say that Gholston is going to be this year's Brady Quinn. The faster they shoot up, the faster they fall. He looks to be BT all over again.
Nobody jump on me perleese! But I still feel hes B Thomas mark II. Its going to look like Arizona if we draft him
I still doubt we're even thinking of drafting this guy. Thomas and Pace got big paydays, recently, and Thomas cannot be cut or traded without a significant cap hit. I think it would be absurd to draft Gholston unless you are planning to move Thomas or Pace to ILB (not entirely out of the questions I guess).
BT wasn't projected very high the year we took him, but if you want to make comparisons, the same knocks on Gholston are the ones that were made on Terrell Suggs, i.e. questions about the fit in a 3-4 base.
Quinn never shot up though, he was consistently a top ranked prospect, it was Russell who skyrocketed and he stayed at the top, Quinn dropped in the same capacity as Leinart and Rodgers. There seems to be a groing trend of 1 top QB and the second guy goes in the 20s. Teams are also scared off the high drafted QB money. If Quinn would have came out the year before he would have had higher value.
