Not going again- I went last year and that crap was tiring as all hell. Fun to do it once, but not multiple times.
Last year was a bit different. I lined up at Radio City at around 1:30 AM. There weren't that many people there, but the line became pretty massive by the time they handed out tickets at 6:00 AM. People were still getting on line at 5:00 so its still possible to get tickets if you're late. Getting there 4-5 hours before the wristband handouts should be safe. Don't get there later than 7:30 though IMHO. Oh yeah, difference #1- they gave out tickets last year instead of wristbands so it wasn't first come first serve. This year, even after you get the wristbands you still need to come back early (before 3 PM) to get good seats. You had designated seats last year so I came back right before the draft started. Funny story, there were basically two big sections of the line. The first section (closer to the entrance) was shorter and I was on that part, and I thought I was in good shape. The second section wrapped around Radio City. Little did I know that what I thought was the back of the first section was actually the front of the whole line. All the people who were lining up around RC had to run around the street and get at the back of the line (which I was now at the front of!). I ended up getting seats behind Jamarcus Russell's family and in front of Calvin Johnson's. I talked with two friends of Deion Sanders who were sitting next to me (he got them lunch, I was about to ask Prime Time to hook me up when he was giving them their food). My recommendation: Get to Radio City absolutely before 6 AM.After that, if you want better seats, you're going to have to stick around Radio City until the line starts forming agan for the actual draft. If you can deal with mediocre seats, go around the city and kill time until it gets closer to 3 PM. Grab a bite to eat or something. The 1st round is TIRING and the food is expensive. I only went once and didn't experience the wristbands, so somebody who dealt with those can probably offer better advice.
Thanks for the the info Spectre. I was thinking of showing up at 6 and wondering if that would be good enough. Otherwise, possibly go for day two if that's much easier. I do enjoy watching at home but though it might be neat to go in person one year. I'ts prety neet you sat round JR and CJ's families. You must have had great seats. I do live in hoboken so I could always get my wristband and come back. Are there TV's set up to watch espn coverage? I think in the past they had lots of activities but now they're outside (and I doubt they let you come back in.) One other question (probably dumb), if people leave early do they let others in?
They have some stuff around Radio City- I got some free stuff from some vendors. I don't think they let others in after people leave. The big TV screens do show ESPN coverage but you won't be able to listen to the coverage (unless you use the FM radio I think).
That's cool if we can still hear coverage with the FM radio. I could bring one. Too bad the food isn't great (and I'm sure we couldn't bring our own in.) I guess I could eat well before heading over after getting the tickets. BTW, and this might be a little silly to ask, but is there wireless there? Would be great to pass the time and look up info on players selected if there is.
