Henry, 24, was charged with misdemeanor assault and criminal damaging in the Monday incident in Cincinnati. A warrant for his arrest was issued in Hamilton County Municipal Court. The player has had a string of problems with police. He most recently was in court last week after being ticketed for driving with expired Kentucky license plates. He paid $149, according to the Hamilton County Municipal Court records. Henry, who was arrested four times during a 14-month span, was suspended by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for the first half of last season for repeatedly violating the league's conduct policy. A message seeking comment was left late Wednesday for Henry's attorney, Robert Lotz. Bengals spokesman Jack Brennan said the team is aware of the charges but declined comment. The player's agent, Marvin Frazier, said Henry gave him a different version of events but declined to elaborate. "I was told it didn't happen that way," Frazier said. According to an affidavit filed in Hamilton County, Henry was identified by Gregory Meyer, whose hometown was not listed, and an eyewitness. The eyewitness claimed Henry punched Meyer, causing "visible injury." Henry then threw a beer bottle at Meyer's car, breaking the rear passenger window, according to the affidavit. After his most recent arrest, Henry pleaded guilty to letting minors drink alcohol in a hotel room he had rented. He served two days in jail. The Bengals issued a statement expressing frustration with Henry when he was in traffic court a year ago for driving with a suspended license. Following his NFL suspension, Henry caught 21 passes for 343 yards and two touchdowns.
Seriously.. how hard is it to stay out of trouble? This guy is such a stupid motherfucker it's insane. You have the potential to make MILLIONS of dollars for catching a stupid football! Among a few others things, the people that pay you these millions make a simple request: stay out of trouble. There is nothing hard about understanding that and yet some players fail to see that they are not the exception to the rule and that they can't get away with everything in life. I'm just ranting because it makes me mad to think there are people like him that have so much god given talent and then they just throw it away. I wish players like Chris Henry would stop to think about that and what people like us (on the board) would do to have the opportunity(S!) that they get.
not a shock, henry has just pushed it too far. Does anybody think some team takes a flyer on him in the near future because of his talent?
Posted: 36 minutes ago Bengals release WR Henry after assault charge Associated Press CINCINNATI -- The Bengals today released troubled wide receiver Chris Henry on the heels of his most recent legal troubles. "Chris Henry has forfeited his opportunity to pursue a career with the Bengals," team president Mike Brown said in a statement released by the club. "His conduct can no longer be tolerated. " Henry has been accused of punching an 18-year-old man in the face and breaking his car window with a beer bottle, according to court documents filed Wednesday. "We had hoped to guide him toward an appropriate standard of personal responsibility that this community would support and that would allow him to play in the NFL. We acknowledge those fans who had concerns about Chris; at the same time we tried to help a young man. But those efforts end today, as we move on with what is best for our team ." Court records don't indicate that Henry has hired an attorney in the new case. I am Bengals season ticket holder and have watched Henry play alot and he is very talented. How can a guy throw all that away he has been warned so many times.
They may consider him but since he will probably get a 2 year suspension (if not more) they won't consider him for long. That would make me more interested in Pacman now if anything. You think he isn't watching this? He knows his next misstep will end in exactly the same result. (not that I want him, just that somebody will get a steal).
Henry reminds me of Warren Wells. Both were from Louisiana, had a similar build and played a similar style. Wells was a Pro Bowl receiver with the Raiders from 1967-70. (He also played 9 games with Detroit in 1964). Wells got some 1st team All-Pro votes in 1970 and then never played in another NFL game. He had emotional problems and got himself into trouble with drugs. The big difference was that Wells was a starter and major force at WR for the 1968, 1969, and 1970 Raiders teams. Henry was a backup.
Chris Henry was released? Oh man, that could only mean 1 thing... ...watch the "Let's Get Chris Henry", "Why not Chris Henry?!?", "Why isn't Chris Henry on the Jets yet?!?!?" and (my personal favorite) "This FO is stupid if they don't get Chris Henry!!!" threads pop up in the following weeks.
Michael Vick WAS the most talented player in this league until he got in trouble... There's no way a third string receiver has more talent than him. It pisses me off when people try to throw Michael Vick: The Football Player under the bus, because Michael Vick: The Person made some horrible decisions, that he's paying for.
Michael Vick was far from the most talented player in the league. He was far from the most talented player even at his position. He MAY have been the most athletic player in the league but that's a far cry from the most talented.
Honestly, WTF is wrong with people like him? I manage to get through my life, year after year, without punching people in the face or getting arrested. TBTF
