I dont know how more guys and gals are not talking about drafting Chris Johnson out of East Carolina.... 5' 11" 197lbs they say he is compared to Bryan Westbrook of the Eagles. I know alot of people are not sold on McFadden.. We should defenantly take a close look at him.. He runs a 4.2 and he can see holes develope on the fly he has great lateral movement and acceleration... Check him out on youtube for highlights I think he will be one of the shocking backs that everyone underestimated because theres no talk of him.. He did kick returns and punt returns at East Carolina University so we would draft him for more then one need.

We have Leon who can do all those things (no 4.2, but a gamer with acceleration)
Good player, sure i'd love to have him, but not a big need.

I agree, he's just a slightly better Leon.

Edit: Sorry, wrong thread. Misread "Chris Johnson" as "Chad Johnson." Anyhow, guessing here that Chad Johnson would add the bigger threat to our offense.

I am all in favor of brining in Ocho Cinco. I believe Mangini can handle him. Our offense is in desperate need of playmakers.

Imagine how elated Kellen would be to see #85 running post patterns instead of Justin McCrap. Coles and Cotchery, while good, aren't good enough. Brad Smith is still unproven.

Leon Washington is 5'8" or so and not taking nothing from he is a great back... but nothing like chris johnson not saying he has mad it before he has made it... but if you check the films out this guy hits the holes between the tackles and flys into the secondary and lowers the pads and drives players back...... leon the other hand if you watched games try to lower the pads but always ended up gettin knocked backwards... check out the highlights you'll be impressed with this guy. and we do need a third running back so....

I don't follow college ball, so I never heard of this guy.

OK, I know everyone looks like a HoF in their highlight reel, but holy crap, that guy is scary fast!

What round is he projected to go in the draft?

He's very small...and he bounced back in forth from RB to WR in college. He's a poor man's Reggie Bush.

He is VERY fast though. It's incredible.

CJ is projected to go mid to late second round.

The guy is like a Forrest Gump...
    DAMN, that boy can run!

Though we have a quick, semi-home run threat in Leon (also predicted to be a Brian Westbrook-type player), he would be an alright pick-up with our 2nd if we draft defense in the first.

He'd be rated higher if he weren't, apparently, afraid of contact. Like, deathly afraid. Life trung Canidate afraid. So there's that.

No. had a solid college career and good speed numbers at the combine, but hes way too small. Can't break tackles at all. Don't get me wrong, if he reaches the next level then he's gone. Only problem is he can't break anything to get there.

I'd take Kevin Smith before anything. He's cocky as hell, but I think he is very underrated. Size, speed, experience, good vision. I think he is the #4 RB in the draft.

He took a lot of contact in that highlight reel - plus, if he's scared of contact and still plays football, that's the definition of bravery.

I don't see any way the Jets would draft him in the second, but if he somehow fell they may be tempted to pick him up later.

Speed like that is always welcome on your team.

Johnson isn't Reggie Bush Jr...he's not afraid to run inside. You put him behind an O-line like the Cowboys/Jags/Pats/Steelers and he can play an MJD to someones Taylor...he'd be perfect for the Cowboys actually...

His highlight reels don't indicate a fear of contact. He doesn't appear to seek out people to hit when he's running the ball, like a Marion Barber type, but that's not necessarily a negative.

My God, he is fast though -- it's thrilling to watch him defeat all those terrific angles the DBs think they're taking to get to him.

Man when this guy hits his second gear he seriously burns everybody. seems like he is good a getting skinny through tight holes and then bursts once he hits the open field. Hard to say if that speed will translate to the next level though.

You can't make that comparison between a guy who has shown he can do it in the NFL and a guy who has done exactly zero in the NFL.

I tend to think that Leon needs to touch the ball at least ten times a game. I think the idea that he can't handle the workload because of his size is absurd. I think part of our struggles on offense stemmed from the fact that he was used far less last year.

speed is the first thing a player loses through wear & tear, injury, age, and a long NFL season. if speed is the only thing he brings to the party, then we'd be paying a LOT for something that could be gone in a 4.2 40.

You guys should also look at Jamaal Charles if you're looking at a speed back, as well as Felix Jones.

If you want a good running back to groom, however, my choice (no pun intended) would be Tashard Choice. Good moves, good speed (though he's been knocked for it, look at his Senior Bowl for proof that he has NFL speed), and he can power through defenders when (WHEN) he keeps his legs moving. I think that with some NFL-quality coaching and a few years of riding the pine, he can turn into a very good every down NFL running back. Chances are that he goes in the late second to third round, so the Jets won't really have a shot at him.

    1. How much can we possibly pay him? He's not getting picked with the 6th pick.

    2. Lucky speed isn't the only thing he brings to to the party then.
