And still, I haven't attacked his record. Do me a favor and let me know if you plan on addressing the point I was making or if you just plan on glossing it over to give your form-letter response for the anti-Herm trolls, because until then you will be a waste of time to respond to.
     You have lost any bit of credibility you might have ever had. Please go back and look to see when those four players were drafted? In the meantime, stop posting, grab your head with both hands, secure your feet to the ground and pull your head out of your ass.
It just seems like more Herm bashing that isn't necessary. Can we get over it and move on? Let KC worry about him.
Man, when I started this thread, I had no idea it would blossom into an all out pitched artillery battle.
I see what you're saying, but I was trying to point out the fact that his behavior in our neck of the woods is now being repeated in KC, and I think that the article shows that to some degree.
 We were wating for you. You're needed in the Jets Draft History Video thread..... Please spin that stuff around for us. No need to move on??? - We're Jet fans, it's the offseason - We can discuss Herm, Obrien, Walton, Weeb... Anything we want - Why do people waste their time telling other fans what to discuss and when to move on?
No offense my friend...but the posters that ask Jet fans to "move on" need to give it a break. First off its the offseason...once the season starts...most Jet fans will move on except for an occasional press conference where Herm compares the Chiefs problems to "a chicken that missed the bus because the Kool Aid wasnt cold". Secondly...for a lot of Jet fans..Herm Edwards "occupied" 5 years of our lives...for some..that could be a good portion of their Jet lives....it pissed many off with his nonsense...for me?, Im still in therapy but thats a private matter. You cant ask guys to move on like Herm was some 7th round pick that was cut his first year. When I look at the roster..todays roster...and see the lack of development in our young kids...Herm is still our problem until their therapy starts to kick in after being traumatized over the last several years. Trying to get to sleep counting chickens may take a full year to get over. We pray every night for them. Other than that..things are fine.
What spinning? You guys are nuts, b/c I think Herm and TB did a good job here(oh by the way it's part of the beast stretch in Jets history) that means I am a homer when it comes to anything Jrets realted? We have been a brutal franchise most of our existence but BP brought us out and Herm and co. kept us out. I don't justify blunders that have happened in the past, I correct misinformation at the hands of those negative posters that say everything that the jets do is the wrong thing.
That is such nonsense, it is just a MB rumor that spread. Young players have developed very well here under Herm. He took over in '01 and helped developed Abe, Ellis, Coles, Becht(couldn't catch but a heck of a blocker), Jordan, Mckenzie, Moore, Jones, Moss, Chad, Robertson, Vilma, Hobson, Brown, Coleman, Rhodes, ... The staff uner Herm did a very good job developing players. Sure he inherited some talent as most coaches do(go check what BP inherited here) but he and his staff helped make young players into solid players.
The sooner you come to accept Herm for what he is the sooner we can all stop bashing him. Eventually, down the road, you will thank us for the constant Herm bashing. Acceptance is a hard thing, we understand that's why were doing this for you, MD, Kinghenry, #1 Jetsfan and all the other Herm lovers here at GG.
First off Junc...good to see you again...have you been away? Havent seen you much the last week or so..maybe its me. Secondly, lets just agree to disagree...you cant be serious giving him credit for developing most of those players...the only players I would give him credit for developing would be defensive guys...since he had no understanding of the offensive side of the ball. On defense, I might give him Rhodes and Coleman. Thats it...Robertson? a 4th overall pick and proud picture in my avatar? Vilma? Lets see how these kids develop the next year...year and half under EM...if they stay the same....you will be right..if they get better...I will be right. I would give DH more credit for any development of any player the Jets had before Herm. The only credit I would give Herm for player development is whether they showered and remembered to wash behind their ears. Sorry...
And Don't forget to sweep the corners of the room  Come on - He gets credit for keeping the team "good" - Screw that, we can still debate and discuss his mistakes and failures... The guy is nothing more than a cheerleader - he came here with ZERo experience and Zero systems - Took a shot in the dark with Hackett running a WCO and then changed that and took a shot in the dark at his own Hybrid defense that was a disaster and needed to change that.... He's a useless BOOB. You must think KC is going to be real good huh? Heck, they already have a good team and now they have The Master.
Guys, it cracks me up that we are still debating Herm's tenure. At least NYJUNC is consistent...and so am I. Those of you who in "hindsight" see what Herm was are re-writing the past. -From those of us who didn't buy into Herm's lines from "nearly" the start of his tenure... ...I find it amusing to see it happening again in Kansas City. -As to whether this should be moved to the NFL Forum... ...the guy just left the Jets...so why not keep it here where more of us will see it and read it. -More important from Herm's mouth IMO... ...his comments over the weekend from the meetings about how things transpired in NY prompting his leaving the Jets. His comments to reporters about how things went are paper thin. He still denies that he wanted out, and he still claims he never lied. Now, I'm not about to think for one moment that he'd be honest about his intentions of leaving the Jets...nor do I think he'll ever confess to wanting to make the move to Kansas City before the 2005 season even STARTED...which I believe to be the case. In contrast, I am so damn pleased with the new Head Coach, and the new GM who are keeping everything to themselves instead of spouting off to the media...and trying to do their jobs. I'm impressed that the wheelings and dealings are under wraps, and that none of us really knows what is happening out at Hofstra. Pulling off the Dyson deal, the draft scenarios, how they handled the Abraham issue (he was the one going to the press, not the Jet FO). I'll enjoy checking in on Ole Herm and his minions in KC for some comic relief...but more time will be spent thinking J-E-T-S!
What I find most interesting about the article is, Herm is speaking as if he hasn't even left the Jets. It's like a continuation of where he left off... the excuses, the bullshit (he didn't know things were this bad). An alien landing here from outer space would assume he's still the HC of the NY Jets just from listening to him. Herm obviously hasn't learned a God-damned thing since moving to KC. I'm talking about learning about himself. In order to develop and grow in any profession, every one of us needs to look at ourselves and our weaknesses and see how we can improve. But it's obvious he hasn't learned a thing about himself, about his mistakes, about how to handle the press, about how not to patronize and insult the fan base by talking down to them in such a manner as to insinuate they're complete morons, how to keep his mouth shut if he underestimated the age of the existing players, etc., etc., on and on... The man is doomed to failure. He's destined to repeat every single mistake he ever made here. For openers, I'll bet he even makes some horrendous clock-management decisions in his season opener, right off the bat. Then after the game and after they lose, he'll make his same lame excuses for it. Any takers?
I'm not the biggest Herm fan, but I didn't mind making the playoffs 3 out of 5 years (granted, even if we made the playoffs on a lucky 54-year kick vs. Oakland in '01, the Pats' miraculous win vs. Miami in '02 and the Steelers' unbelievable win vs. Buffalo in '04 when they had nothing to play for). So the results on the field -- while they could have been better -- aren't what kills me about Herm. It's that he lied and thought he could get away with it. Thought we were too dumb to notice. He always talks about doing what's right for the NFL's image, but he debased the emblem by telling coaches he wanted out of NY in pre-game warmups, by planting crap in the media, etc. In the end, he had all of Parcells' warts and none of the charm. Herm always talked about "putting your name on the stone." That stone, Herm, is your gravestone. "Here lies Herman Edwards. 2001 - 2005. Closet Preacher. Defender of Chickens."
Nothing but consistency here - BUT, I'm not sure why you're cracked up at the people who gave him the benefit of the doubt to start his tenure... As soon as they declared the team WIN NOW while drastically changing systems and made up their own defense not allowing Cotrell to actually coach, I had questions.... But, for the fan who took a little more convincing, there's no reason to belittle that - It's not re-writing the past it's adding up all the parts of the equation and finally getting to your personal breaking point.... It's the fan that made excuses for and say's they were a good Front office STILL that makes me wonder.... What the hell kind of coaching staff and front office would it take for such a fan to not like them... I know already, it would take a staff on another Team.... Cuz, like it or not, some fans wil ALWAYS stick behind that franchise no matter what they do.
Herm is nothing more than a good motivator. I wouldn't even consider him for a defensive coordinator position (if i were a GM), simply because the guy obviously has zero clue how to game plan. EX: A good head coach would never say "We're going to throw the ball less this year". A good head coach would say "We're going to make adjustments throughout the game and do whatever we have too to win." Herm has one game plan, and sticks to that game plan no matter what! He has no clue how to adjust and attack an opponent's weaknesses. I too gave Herm the benefit of the doubt for a very long time (pretty much up until the Baltimore game this year when reality slapped me hard in the face). Before that I made up excuses, ignored his incompetence, and placed the blame on everyone else except him. Say what you want about his record here, but the fact is Herm inherited a good football team, talked a big game, and just rode the wave until there was nothing to ride anymore. The truth is, any other coach with half a brain could have stepped in (after Groh) and had AT LEAST the same amount of success Herm did. The dark age has begun in Kansas City.
