    3rd actually

but seriously, this team could win 10-11 games with the current roster, losing a solid receiver would be a major blow, our offense would be crippled. jmo.

Guys we still have a year on rhodes contract and the franchise. I'd rather take the contract slow and not over pay then just throw money at him so he signs now.

I like to sign Rhodes sometime during TC. Thats when most guys get extensions when they are about to become FA's. We can Franchise him since Safeties have low pay but the contracts keep getting bigger and bigger. I am sure we can lock him up before the season starts.

As for Coles.... 2003 he got 13 mil up front, 2005 he got 8 mil up front. He has made 29 mil the last 5 years. That is alot of cash for a Wr that is a questionable #1. I dont know why he is complaining when we offered to guarentee 5 mil in 2008 and 6 mil in 2009.

with a guy like rhodes you want to get him on a long term contract asap, it will surely cost more money the longer they wait. if they franchise him he like most will probably be annoyed and end up leaving soon after. the franchise tag is basically a 1 year and then we part ways situation. you rarely hear about a guy getting franchised and then signing a long term deal with that team.

Rhodes deserves his payday. After the 08-09 season, the Jets will hopefully resign him long-term. Even if it is a hefty contract, he was a bright spot on a dismal 07-08 team and one of the best-kept secrets in the NFL.

That or they learn from their mistakes? Or they reward guys that deserve it and not those who bitch for the sake of bitching whilst playing at a below-league-average level like Kendall?

The need for Kendall getting an extra million was far greater than the need for Coles to get whatever he ends up with now and the level of bitchiness is no different. If anything Coles has been far worse for far longer when it comes to venting his unhappiness.

Look, there going to take care of Rhodes..he knows that..I'm sure they've expressed that to him and his agent..Do your job and EM and MT will take care of you. Why wouldn't you take care of the guy..Rhodes ain't worried..I ain't worried!

Why? The team wasn't built to win last year, Kendall would maybe have seen us up to 5 wins, plus I don't think they liked him. They like Coles.

Whatever they give him is probably too much for a slot receiver which he has had to become. We have 1 QB that can't reach him and another who can't accurately throw the ball downfield within 10 yards of him.

Maybe this is the sure fire sign that they will be drafting a QB on day one. Why else do it?
