He wins lost games. His downside is Vinny Testaverde, his upside is John Elway.

QB's who can bring a team back from a couple of scores down several times a year are almost always headed for the hall of fame. What we've seen so far is him take the Titans on his back in 2006 and turn a lost season into a decent one, last year they made the playoffs despite having about as little frontline talent going into the year as anybody in the league. That was his first two years, the ones where all QB's not named Marino or Roethlisberger tend to struggle a lot.

I would say his upside is John Elway but his floor is alot lower than Vinny. I would say his floor is Daunte-post injury. Not just because thier both black. BUt because niether has really proven to be an effective pocket passer. He knows how to win games but eventually, he wont have a great defence and great running game to bial him out.

The Titans allowed 400 points in 2006. They allowed 324 of those in his 13 starts and he went 8-5 with 4 4th quarter comebacks. The losses were, with one exception, games where the defense allowed a lot of points. 45 pts to Dallas, 37 to Jacksonville, 27 to Baltimore, 40 to New England.

ok well in 2006 i thought he was going to be a great qb but he regressed in 2007 In 2007 They had the 5th ranked defense againnst the run and 10th against the pass (pretty good) If you look at there schedule they only lost 1 game in which they scored 20 points 20 to 34 loss at denver. They only "high scoring" game they won was 38-36 the rest of the wins were like 13-9 20-7 16-10 stuff like that.

Now im not saying VY isnt a decent qb its just that hes hasnt shown the ability to be an effective pocket passer and in this league, nothing else will last in the long term.

There have been QB's who lasted quite a long time and had good success without using the pocket much. Fran Tarkenton, Danny White and Brett Favre are all examples of unusual styles that did well.

It's true that the majority of the great QB's have been drop back and throw from between the hashmarks guys and Vince Young is not one of those.

The value that Vince Young represents is his ability to stretch a defense from sideline to sideline and from the line of scrimmage to 50 yards deep. That's a lot of territory to cover for a defense and it's the reason that even solid defenses have had trouble containing the Titans at times. Then there are the boneheaded plays that he makes on a fairly regular basis. Those are the two competing things here and I suspect that the first will win out as experience diminishes the second. That would be the Elway progression.

Snub - to treat with disdain or contempt, esp. by ignoring

The Jets are not worthy of a preseason top 16

Up until I read "Titans" I thought you were talking about Cutler.

Young...his downsides like...what he is as a passer right now but worse as a rusher...and his upside is a ridiculously good QB...I think Steve Young-esque.

You're overrating the crap out of him because the Titans had a winning record. If Cutler had a season like Young just had, everyone would be talking about how right they were that he would bust.

The game isn't played on paper. Let's take a look at a trend the Raiders have followed since 2003. The whole time you've been talking about how great there roster is.

    Code:
    2007	4	12	0
    2006	2	14	0
    2005	4	12	0
    2004	5	11	0
    2003	4	12	0

    2008 - 4-12?

That trend projects to 8-8 for the Raiders in 2008, 4-12 in 2009.

How did you get 8-8 from that?

Anyway, the Raiders aren't going to improve unless they get a whole bunch of new starters on both lines. With only 1 pick in the first 4 rounds I can't see that happening unless they start making trades and moving out of the #4. I see both happening between now and draft day.

4-4-4 in odd numbered years, 2-5-8 in even.

I don't see an 8 anywhere in that box or was that prior to 2003? NM, I just figured out what you are saying.
