I know some here were wanting the Jets to draft Clady, so I posted this here.. NFL | Clady scores 13 on Wonderlic test Sun, 23 Mar 2008 14:30:54 -0700 Dan Pompei, of the Chicago Tribune, reports Boise State OT Ryan Clady scored a 13 on his Wonderlic test.
does it honestly matter? I have been thinking over the past few years that the wonderlick doesn't really play into most teams evaluations of players. Maybe a few teams take stock in it, but really I am thinking so few take it into account that its almost worth not paying attention when the scores for the wonderlick are revealed...
The Wonderlic is a reasonable evaluation of whether or not a player will be able to pick up the intricacies of a complex system in the pros. A really low score has to make you wonder. The other side of the coin is that if the player played in a complex system, like USC's offense, then the Wonderlic probably doesn't mean anything at all. If they could pick a complex offense up in college then they'll likely be able to do it in the pros. If they were a Wishbone QB and you want to know how they'll pick up the West Coast Offense then by all means look hard at the Wonderlic.
They may be few, but after hearing about Tangini's interview process, I'm willing to bet we're one of them.
From what i know Tackles need to score well on that test to be considered elite. Guards and Centers don't need to score as high but the bookends do. QBs, LTs are up there. EDIT::::: Tackles' average needs to be the highest out of all postions on the field. Link : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wonderlic_Test#Use_in_NFL
GH Vince Young aslo has started since i believe week 4 of his Rookie Season.... Not going to say his supporting cast is better than clemens, because that really isnt a valid argument... but I will say this, sats wise VY is hardly any better than Kellen Clemens...
Clady has really hurt himself w/ his combine and now wonderlic performances. He'll still likely go in the 1st round..but looks to be falling beneath Jeff Otah and Chris Williams on the big board.
VY was also a 1st round pick. VY Also has played in 30 games. With 21 TDS, 30 INTS, and 20 fumbles. Clemens has played in 12 games with 5 TDS , 10 INTS, and 5 fumbles. Oh and this:
Clady will be a bust anyway, I havent liked him since prior to the combine and this only reinforces that, he is a smaller D'Brick and looks to be a hell of a lot dumber
Kellen Clemens can't run his way into the endzone 8 times because he is not that fast. Also, Clemens' receivers don't want to catch the ball for the win either. Not to mention pussy playcalling by the coaching staff. Also, in those 12 starts, how many games was he able to come from behind? Should we include the Dallas Game. Its not the kids fault.
