Okay, after evaluating the Draft Value Chart, the only way this scenario would work out would be if the Patriots traded picks with the Oakland Raiders. But, in order to sit at #4, the Patriots would have to give up their 1st, 2nd, and like a ?4th? (I don't actually know if they have a pick then, but if they do, that sounds like the most logical thing or their late 3rd.) Which sounds really expensive and would leave the door open for the Jets to take McFadden or worse yet, trade down and give the Jets the luxury of moving down and picking up solid players in the 1st.

If they stay true to the rumor and trade with KC, then the Raiders take McFadden, NE takes Gholston (switch 1st rouders, and NE's early 3rd) and leaves the Jets to reach in a player, draft a CB, or scramble for a trade down on the clock.

So, the "I hope the Patriots take move up and take Gholston, so that McFadden falls to us" is really just wishful thinking.

No way the pats give up their 2nd rounder for Gholston(Remember, the Falc's GM is from their organization, so that would be who they would talk to). They have alot of holes on D to fill and players who are similiar to Gholston later on. They believe they can target players who fit their system better than anyone. If anything I would love to trade our pick just so someone else can jump in front of them.

I am not going to put this in my own thread (it would be stupid) but, I just looked at a kagillian mock drafts:

The general consensus amongst all of the draft gurus all over the planet is that Darren McFadden will fall to us at #6. A very close second has Gholston falling to us. There are some that have us taking McKelvin - not as much as the first 2 though, and there are a few that have us taking Cromartie.

I am amazed at all of the variability...

    Observations:

Nobody (absolutely nobody) has McFadden dropping further than us.
McFadden generally is either going to us or the Raiders. Very tough to call.

Lots of drafts have Gholston going somewhere in the top 4

Sedric Ellis could very well surprise us all and be in the top 5

Mendenhall seems to be getting picked somewhere betweeen 10 and 15.

Miami is likely to take one of the Longs at #1

You do realize my argument was how costly it would be for the Patriots to switch with the Raiders at #4, right? But you think they'll get a break from the Falcons #3 pick because the Falcons GM is "from their organization"?

The best rumor so far has been us trading Coleman and #6 for the Raiders #4. That would be ideal for us. We don't lose any picks, we save a ton of cash and can probably replace Coleman with our second rounder if we don't totally step in shit and get Long at #4.
