NFL.com gave an overview of our draft last year:

With just four picks in last year's draft, the Jets made the most of their selections. Both Pittsburgh CB Darrelle Revis and Michigan LB David Harris earned starting spots and made considerable contributions.

Harris, the Jets second overall pick, was everything and more the Jets hoped for with their second pick, playing his way into a starting ILB role midway through the season, recording 102 tackles and 5.0 sacks in nine games as a starter (including 24 against Washington in Week 9). Harris showed an innate ability to get to the quarterback and will likely be a Pro Bowler for years to come.

Like Harris, Revis looks to only to get better and will likely permanently occupy one side of the Jets secondary in the coming years. Revis started all 16 games for the Jets in 2007, recording all three of his interceptions in the second half of the season.

The jets selected 6-0, 196-pound WR Chansi Stuckey in the seventh round and the wideout from Clemson showed potential, catching 11 passes and a touchdown in four preseason games.

OT Jacob Bender -- drafted in the sixth round -- still has a long ways to go coming from I-AA Nicholls State. The 6-6, 315-pound lineman is likely a long-term project for Mangini and his staff.

Hopefully Stuckey gets over injuries and can step up this year.

I had a good feeling about Revis and Harris from the beginning and love watching both of them play. Harris did amazing for only starting 9 games in my opinion.

Bender has nice size, lets see if he can learn how to use it.

i love the stuckey pick, i saw him play early '06 in person a and he was making plays all over the field. If he can stay healthy and we pick up a big, tall guy or a burner in the draft he can be a giant headache for teams trying to defend against a 4 wr set. Wes welker anyone?

    We had a good draft?

You're crazy if you think that...we needed quantity last year and we didn't get it.

i strongly disagree, we got two guys that are arguable the best on our D and should be perrenial pro-bowlers. While i do agree we needed to fill some holes i feel that our draft in the long run will prove to be much better for our team then drafting a couple of alright starters and a bunch of backups. Most of the people here would probably agree with me

I also strongly disagree. Even with more picks we wouldn't have gotten Revis and Harris. They look like pro-bowlers for years to come. We may have needed a lot then 4 players from last years draft but I bet we wouldn't have gotten any more when then the 4 wins we got last year.

Overall at the time you can argue that we need the picks but looking at the results how can you not like what the Jets had done? With Revis and Harris we are a better team these comings years, with more picks we wouldn't have got them both and who knows where we would be now...

Guys, we went 4-12 Revis and Harris can't be *that* great.

    You can't blame 2 players for 4-12.

How about we pick 7 players and only 4 of them are on the roster a year later for differing reasons.
Your right, we did need quantity , but ended up with carefully chosen quality. This years draft we should be able to pick quality and quantity.

You are fucking crazy if you don't think that these guys are beasts...

Darrelle Revis, for most of the season was a reliable #1 CB. He began hitting his stride in the second half of the season recording 3 Interceptions, with NO PASS RUSH!

And should I even have to defend David Harris? Jonathan Vilma in 2004 was excellent, but David Harris made more plays in 9 games than Vilma had made in a season!

David Harris and Darrelle Revis are blue chippers and will be good ones.

    Especially David Harris.

The Jets already had quantity - the roster was full of it. They were desperately short of quality.

The idea that a whole lot of mediocrity is better than a small amount of brilliance is silly. Quantity can be picked up anywhere, anytime.

I normally enjoy reading your posts- however this time I think that you're talking out of your ass- unless of course your post is laden in sarcasm.

We landed 2 potential pro-bowlers for years to come, who showed more in one season than some guy have shown during their entire career here. Revis came in without the benefit of TC and after a few games adjusting to the NFL way of doing things, he really came into his own. If you don't see Harris as a beast I'd gladly drive you to the eye doc to pick up a stronger prescription. The other two are still unproven, but I'd rather have 2 guys who could very well be "elite" players in the very near future, than 5 mediocre players and a couple of guys who don't even make the squad beyond camp.

Everyone who judges our draft last year leaves out the fact that we got Thomas Jones for a draft choice and he should be counted as part of the value for the draft. We got three starters out of last year's draft, Revis, Harris and Jones. People looking to bash the FO conveniently seem to always forget that.

I had to check my watch to make sure this wasn't April Fools Day. Our 4-12 was not a result of the play of Revis and Harris.

Last year, I was surprised when we moved up to get both guys, but at least we came away with 2 starters who are better than average in the NFL; and both possess the talent to potentially make all-pro.

Any time you come out of the draft with 2 players who have a shot at making the pro-bowl, you have done very well. Now, moving up does not always pan out; I will use the DRob example here, but since DRob is the product of different coaching and GM control, I will let it go for what it is.

That would be too much. We also had addititonal picks, you would have to substact them, so we wouldn?t have been able to trade up for Revis and Harris, so how would you anylize the draft then? see where this heads?

if you can pick up 2 potential perennial pro bowlers in one draft you have done well.

sign me up for that kind of result every year
