I doubt Chris Baker is young enough to be emerging or in need of a mentor.

Absolutely. I really cannot understand WHY Baker isn't used more. He catches everything that is thrown his way and is a decent blocker.

It has been apparent for the past two seasons that for whatever reason the Jets just don't want to use Baker all that much in obvious TE passing situations.

    It doesn't make any sense.
Can anybody remember a play where he dropped an obvious catch or missed a blocking assignment?

The problem is they needed him to help out the line the last 2 years to protect the QB. He should be able to get some plays now out of play action and 3 reciever sets now.

Still, he was the biggest target we had inside the red zone where we haven't been able to score for two years now. You would think more passes would have gone his way and we would have used a 2 TE formation to aid in blocking.

Maybe it's bad play calling and maybe it's just the fact he can't get open. It has to be one of the two because not many balls have come his way down there.

I thought that when we signed Pokiask, Kowalowski and Ryan, (thank god a TE I can spell!)

He has great hands, but is not very fast and doesn't get great seperation. Plus defenses have long kept extra people in the box to key the run and have no fear of Chad's arm. This muddles the areas where a tight end will work effectively in the passing game.

i agree. the new additions to the line should allow him to be more of a reciever, as opposed to an extra blocker. i think this in itself, will improve our offense.

He's not fast at all but he powers his way down the field after the catch, he can drag DBs and run them over in addition to his good route running. I think Baker is capable of 50+ grabs and 600+ yards if used properly. Never drops passes it seems.

“It would be great,” McFadden said. “Being in a big city, it would be a new lifestyle. I’d have to adapt. It would be a lot different than living in the South.”

    Translation-

I'll need to start wearing a rubber and the women up here can afford much better attorneys, so I'd better watch out.

He's not fast? Didn't he run an unofficial 4.23 and a 4.33 official time at the combine?...lol He blew away every other RB considered any good except Chris Johnson of East Carolina who had an official 4.24.

I think he's talking about Baker not McFadden.
