Typical New York Jets fans with love fetishes for average Green and White players... if a 4 for 6 and Coleman deal is offerred straight up to guarantee you Gholston or McFadden before New England leap frogs you and gets their pick, you do it. This new regime has done a fantastic scouting job, and give me the first or second player on the staff's list rather then their backup choice and a replaceable rotation player... DE can be addressed later in the draft.
If this is true, then this leads me to believe the Raiders are gonna try to pick up McFadden, and the Jets Gholston. Let me explain. I have to believe the Raiders and Jets see eye to eye where or how the Draft will unfold. C. Long to Mia, J. Long to St. Louis, Atlanta picks up a QB, and the Raiders are looking at McFadden and Gholston. I think if the Raiders would consider moving out of this spot at this particular moment, it because of money. However, for the Jets, if the rumors of NE wanting to trade picks with KC to pick up Gholston has any truth to it, I can see how Jets would pull for this trade. Of course, Jets and Raiders would agree prior to switching that the Jets will pick up Gholston at #4, because I think KC will pass on McFadden and I say they pick up (some drafts have them taking a CB others a DT) a DT. That leaves the Raiders to take McFadden, at slightly less money or it leaves them to trade out with the Cowboys. Now whether Gholston is worth a consistent & decent DE is the question. I mean, it's just my opinion, but why else would the Raiders want out of #4 if they can pick up their favorite player straight up?
Seems to me they have the highest grades on 4 guys (my guess is DMC, Gholston, and the 2 Longs...in no particular order) and are concerned that one won't fall to them. I think they are also factoring in with those 4 gone, no one will trade up to #6. So, if they sit at 6, they may be forced to either take a player they don't feel they need or reach for a WR. If it translates into getting a stud at the price of Coleman, I could live with that.
Makes no sense Coleman isn't the kind of DL Oakland wants. They are in need of a DE that has speed. I have them taking Gholston and McFadden being there at 6. Plus they already had Coleman once. He ws drafted bu Oakland and traded to Dallas.
meh, there's really no need to move up in this draft. If the Patsies want to move up to grab Gholston let them. Personally, I'm really leaning towards the trade down with Dallas hopefully and grab Flacco and Groves at the end of the 1st.
Whats up everybody..I come in peace haha from raiderfans.net. We have a few threads over there about this trade rumor as well and I was just kind of curious to get a jets point of view. A few of us (myself included) think that Kenyon Coleman would be a fantastic pick up for us. I am not on the McFadden bandwagon due to the fact that we have Fargas, Rhodes, michael Bush, Echemandu, and Jordan (until he's cut). So with that being said I'm all for a trade out. Coleman would be great because Tommy Kelly is being moved inside on our line...a line using Jay Richardson, Gerard Warren, Tommy Kelly, Kenyon COleman, would be very good against the run. I'd have no problem with this trade whatsoever.
maybe they're asking for Coleman in the hopes of coming away with DRob - it's a stretch, but no more so than this whole trade rumor junk.
Flacco in the first and groves??? Don't know about that, sounds like a bad draft if you ask me. You change that into Dre Moore/Kentwan Balmer and Kenny Phillips , then you're talking.
I think that's the ideal scenario everyone would like, but you make it sound like it's gonna happen. Why would Dallas move up to #6 if neither Gholston nor McFadden is available?
That would be the best possible scenario. Pats jump to 4, Raiders back down to 7 for some player. Pats take Gholston, good athlete, unfortunately adds youth and athleticism to their LB core, but still lacks motor on some plays and a nose for the ball. DMC isn't taken by the Jets pick, and the Jets don't need the Father of Fumbling. Cowboys, send us your picks and you got him, and keep him out of the AFC. We get QB insurance, an SEC baller in Groves and has to be Hardy in Round 2. With the increased O-Line protection, we couldn't set whichever QB up with a better situation than Coles, Cotch, Hardy, whichever number 4, Baker, Franks. Talk about a huge turnaround.
I can't grasp peoples desires on Flacco at this time. Clemens hasn't even had a full year under center & already he is a bust. Clemens with real blocking ... unlimited potential. Any QB with the blocking he had last year ... looks like crap. Trade down? Sure ... but stay away from QB. Go for CB, LB, DE .. WR .. more Oline depth etc.
AYFKM?!! The jumpsuit is crazy...but not retarded. No way in hell they're gonna drop from 4 to 6 (a 200 point value) for a guy that couldn't be traded for a 4th and a 6th (a 100 point value). That said, I would cream my pants if this happened. No way I would trade Coleman at this point in the game. DL are worth premium value at this stage in the game and we got him locked up for 4 more years at much less than the current and projected value for a player of his stature.
I'd be okay with a QB looking like crap last year. Except Clemens regressed big time. He was terrible at pre-snap reads, he was terrible with his footwork, terrible at throwing the ball. About the only thing he did well was run. And, I'm not sure why you would be against another young QB. Clearly Pennington is no longer our future, and Clemens is questionable at best right now. Let's throw in another young arm and see which one ends up being our better option. It in now way hurts us to have to young guys battling it out over the next year or two. Better to keep our options open.
this may be a tad OT but i am very curious as to why some folks think long projetcs as a 3-4 OLB.... i beg to differ....i want his guy closest to the line of scrimmage, in the trenches, not in space. jil
