Chatman signs with Jets

  1. Oh absolutely not. Tanny has a thing about having flexibility to go BPA on draft day. He's filling all our immediate needs now..so on draft day we can pick the highest guy left on our board.

If we draft McFadden, I seriously doubt that Chatman makes the cut.

It all depends on Chatman's signing bonus. my guess its 250k or less, so he can still be cut if we dont like what we see. Also Washington's cap #'s arent that much for a trade if they want to go that way for some reason...

This wont end the McFadden talk, but it gives us insurance incase McFadden is gone. Which is still likely since Oakland can still pick him up. Yes they signed Vargas 3 yrs 12 mil but that is backup money nowawadys. And remember Peterson didnt jump in the fire right away. So Vargas might get some carries the 1st half of the year.

All I know is we wont sign another veteren RB for this season.

Thank god, now we can put all the McFadden rumors to bed.

Chatman means we're set at RB. We've got our lead blocker (Richardson) our feature back (Jones) our change of pace/receiving threat (Leon) and our bruiser (Chatman) who is only 5'8 but at 222 is like a little bowling ball.

I will 2nd that...Sweed in Green and White would be pretty sweet but its going to be hard to trade into a comfortable position to draft him. Trading down for Dallas' two 1st rounders and drafting Devin Thomas with one of them seems like a more likely option. James Hardy should be given a hard look at as well.

I am very happy to have an inexpensive, but well-motivated brutalizer (I think "Bruiser" is a bit timid for the level of impact that would help the NYJ the most) of ballet-dancer DBs.

There seems to be a LOT of RBs around the NYJ this Spring, and I think that a fast lock-down CORNERBACK is a missing, but highly desirable factor that we'd better address. Leodis McKelvin is supposed to be the guy, but there are a couple of others that are also attractive.

I believe that the NYJ CS has a good track record in picking the best of breed in the sector of what we need, so I'll leave them to the right CB.

    But back to Mr. McFadden...

    Ah no. Let's don't.

If McFadden is available and the FO thinks he is as good as the hype, I don't think Jesse Chatman is a reason to pass on him.

I think signing Chatman keeps them from using a lower pick on a back. Looks like our #1 will be a cb and #2 a wr.

These are reasons that would indicate the NYJ FO thinks that McFadden might be available and is as good as his hype:

    1. TJ would be released or traded.
    2. Tony Richardson would not have been signed.
    3. Jesse Chatman would not have been signed.

I tell you that we do need speed. It would good to have more speed on the outside. But it is good to have more speed on Defense, too.

And the defense last year was pure molasses.

i do not think this means that the Jets pass on DMC by any stretch.

then again, nobody knows. everyone can speculate, but I wouldn't be suprised if with the #6, someone gets picked that wasn't expected.

McKelvin is the pick- Wed have the best secondary in football- On special teams wed have Mckelvin returning punts and Miller and Washington returning kickoffs

    Thomas Jones for a 3rd............LOL.

Who knows, Chatman is the kind of back you sign to caddy for a Mcfadden. For a average back like Jones, he looks like competition. Who had a better year on a bad team.

There's no way they would release or trade TJ before the Draft when they don't even know if McFadden will be there at 6. McFadden doesn't play fullback so the Richardson signing had nothing to do with it. Again, if you think you have a top flight running back, Jesse Chatman isn't a reason to not take him. That would be like saying the Jets don't think Long or Gholston are any good by citing their signing of Pace.

This has no bearing on whether we draft Mcfadden, this is just competition. You guys dont realize how stupid you sound, pass on mcfadden cuz we just signed a 3rd string runningback. Does this also mean cuz we signed Artrell Hawkins we dont have to get a safety to pair with rhodes.

Please stop giving the Jets' secondary so much credit. Revis and Rhodes are solid players that can become great, but even after adding Leodis McKelvin, the Jets' secondary wouldn't come close to be the best in the league...and for one huge reason: the safety starting opposite Kerry Rhodes. I hope we don't go corner in the first round. In my opinion, wide receiver is a more important need.

Jesse Chatman provides solid depth at the running back position, and opens up so more possibilities in this upcoming draft.

Hello?...McFly?...you are stupid. The jets will not draft Mcfadden. He is a HUGE character risk. Hello? have you forgotten the Tangini montra? He's not even the best back in this draft and he surely is no AD.

Get over it. I'm tired of all of ya'll just wanting the flashiest player all the time. It's not gonna happen because our FO is smarter than you. They dont just look at the Heisman ceremony and say we'll take him.

I understand Elam isnt a potential Pro-Bowler, but if we drafted McKelvin, which team's secondary, as a whole, would be better than the Jets?
