If we picked up a running back I would rather have a bruiser like Stewart, McFadden just doesn't do it for it me. Unless the Jets trade out of 6 I don't see it happening in the first or second, the Jets will wait until the 4th round and pick up someone then.

I'm not in love with either Golston or Mcfadden at six. I think Mcfadden is as much talent as there is going to be available, but I fear what $25 - 30 million in cash will do to him. Golston from what the experts are saying based on his combines will be a project at linebacker. He will be a great pass rusher, but at #6, I would want a guy that will play every down for that kind of money. I also don't like the idea of drafting a WR that early in the first rd. (Calvin Johnson being a recent exception)

Even though every Mock draft on the planet has McFadden falling to #6, that is all the more reason to believe he will never be there in a million years; something will happen - trust me; this is the Jets we are talking about. I definitely think the Jets have made it a little obvious they will probably take McFadden, especially with the one year deal offered to our new FB. But, we are still at #6 and even though you can make very good arguments that all the teams before us will not take him, I still think something happens to thwart our plans.

The sense I am starting to get now is with all the cash laid out recently, plus they still need to do something with Rhodes at all costs; I think we are trading up to the #3 spot if McFadden has fallen there. If you think about it, we have spent some heavy dough and if we don't Jetison some of our other picks we might have some difficulty signing these guys. I think we are going to say good-bye to our second round pick and throw in a 4th to trade up to the #3 spot to get McFadden, besides swapping #6 for #3. That KC win is going to be expensive.

No way are we trading up for McFadden....I'll be really surprise if we even draft the kid, and if we do, its for trade bait IMO.

It is so hard to call; everything the Jets have done seems to point to MacFadden, but I am no coach and I am very far from being a Tannenbaum so they could end up doing something we never expected just the same.

That would be a horrid move to make. The Jets still need two more pass rushers, a cornerback, and a wide receiver. They can NOT afford to blow the load on one aspect of the team. Every Super Bowl winning team is great in multiple phases, not just one. The Vikings had an OUTSTANDING running game last year and they still went nowhere. The Patriots and Giants on the other hand got it done in passing, rushing, rush defense, and pass defense. The Jets still need to address their needs before they begin making luxury picks like Darren McFadden. Thomas Jones and Leon Washington together WILL GET IT DONE.

EDIT: Forgot to add OL depth and QB as needs.

Did you watch the Jets at all last year? Seriously did you? Clemens nearly got his head torn off with two bad offensive linemen in front of him. You think Leinart would've made a difference with three bad offensive linemen in front of him?

McFaden's off the field problems are that he has at least 2 kids with 2 different woman (both unborn by the way) on the way and paterntiy suits for 2 more kids! thats 4 kids from 4 woman and he's not 22 yet! That wreaks of irrisponsibility , after all they do make a thing called a condom these days, but hey, why would we be scared to give that type of guy 50 million dollars? RB's SHOULD NOT BE DRAFTED HIGH EVER PERIOD! The risk reward factor is out of proportion PLUS there is a ton of talent in later rounds that won't cost as much money, won't cause us that much grief off the field and won't demand to be "the man" behind Thomas Jones who still has plenty left (with a huge price tag i might add) If the jets truly want a rb in this draft trading down is the way to obtain one.

Why does everybody think that McFadden is the best in the draft? I'm not so sure he is the best RB in the draft. He is fast when nobody is knocking him down with one hit, yeah. But he doesn't remind me of a tough running guy who is shifty and can also take it to the house after his runs over you.

I'm with those RBs that have to talk themselves out of running you over first before they scamper off outside to the goal line. There is something very compelling about a big back that can run well.

There have to be some other backs in the draft that can run fast AND tough.

McFadden would be so expensive if he turned out to be just another Blair Thomas, wouldn't he?

He is a madman. I live in Bama, so I see virtually every SEC game. He was the offense on that team. As far as being and every down back--that is a matter of opinion. He carried that workload in the backfield. Arkansas even ran the hog-wild formation where he lined up at quarterback and posed a dual threat.

As for his hands, I dont think they were as good as Felix Jones', but still better than most.

He would instantly upgrade the offense, but I think we are better off taking Gholston to play opposite Pace. They could really wreak havoc on Brady and company.

Leon is not going anywhere. He is one of the few weapons we have on this team. I agree he is not an everydown back but to say he is not that good at running back is not a true statement. With an improved offensive line, this guy could be spectacular.

Somewhere the Falcons, Raiders and Chiefs are smiling. That article just made their picks a whole lot more tradeable for some team that wants McFadden. Now they know that they have to get ahead of us.

It also just made trading our pick that much more challenging.

This sucks, and I think McFadden is a pimp too.

ummmm..that's terrible. I don't think Tannenbaum is in the business of starting riots. If McFadden falls to us, great...But I highly doubt the Jets will trade up and get him.

The Jets still need to draft a wideout...which i believe will be their 2nd round selection.
