Not that I think anyone asked or cares, here is my take on the jets FA, personnel and draft--

    1. I like all the FA signings save Woody. Pitt wanted to keep Faneca, the Cards wanted Pace, Jenkins is the brute we need at NT. Woody? Well if you're benched by the lions, what can I say? Hope I'm wrong.
    2. I applaud the attempt to move Drob, Boobway's biggest of many mistakes. Dslob collected millions (and I mean millions) from the jets over the years. HE WAS A BUST, PEOPLE, and he cost us 2 #1 picks and a 4th rounder. Cut him if no one will take him. Every year someone on this board says "This year he WILL make the pro bowl!" Aint gonna happen...ever. And he's too short to play DE in 3-4.
    3. Tell Coles to take a hike--the guy is quickly becoming a cancer with all his whining--he bolts to the Redskins in 2003 for megabucks, the jets take him back and now HE whines about $$$$$$$.
    4. Draft McFadden if he's there--the jets need an identity--the guy could be the Adrian Peterson the jets need. If he's not there, take Gholston, and bench or move Boobway's 2nd biggest mistake--Bryan (invisible) Thomas.
    5. Play Kellen--last year he had no line or running game. Give him a real chance. Terry Bradshaw stunk his 1st 2 years in the league until the Steelers surrounded him with talent.
I know--I'm stating a lot of obvious--Overall I like Tanny's aggressive approach so far--if he'd sat on his hands and done nothing, then he'd be accused of sitting on his hands and doing nothing. LET'S GO JETS!

I wouldn't mind trading Coles for some extra picks either. The guy is on his last legs getting the shit beat out of him every week and he's asking for an extension after the last disaster where he left for Washington. We can use that pick to draft another reciever, and we can sign DJ Hackett as well.

Coles might whine a lot but he is as tough as they come and we just don't have anyone to replace him.

I agree, Coles is a great receiver and a tough guy, but if you're thinking about money more than football then its a distraction. Get rid of this guy please.

I'd rather have a young receiver from the draft take the #2 slot then have another kendall episode.

Yea thats a good call. I think a lot of his frustrations might be that his friend Chad Pennington isn't the definite starter next season (which he shouldn't be). How can we give this guy an extension or more $$ when he was out almost half this past season?

As for QB, Kellen's the obvious choice to go with and I think picking up a vet QB would be a good call, i.e Culpepper, Leftwich. CP is way to predictable and will NEVER lead this team to a super bowl.

Anyone think a Brady Quinn trade is even on the minds of Tangini?

the one thing i dont get is why so many people are so willing to get rid of coles. we have one established reciever on this team besides him in cotchery, thats it. not sold on brad smith as a full time reciever, i like stuckey and think he has alot of potential but thats yet to be seen, and i dont really count wallace wright as even being on the team. who else would you want at reciever that is available in free agency and is affordable at this point?? and its pretty rare for a reciever to come in as a rookie and make an immediate impact as a starter.

besides that, i still think coles is an extremely talented receiver whos numbers will only get better as the team around him gets better provided he stays healthy. hes done alot for the team... made big plays, played hurt constantly, and established a very good connection with chad, who still may very well end up starting this season, no matter what fans want. since mangini came there have been rumors of him complaining about camp, but hes still here. he has a loud mouth at times, but not nearly as bad as a lot of players in the nfl. id be upset to see him go and at this point highly doubt it will happen.

I like Coles and he can definitely help but I have zero problem with the Jets trading him. There are a ton of solid WR's in this draft and they should draft one with their 2nd rd pick.

I have no doubt that Coles is one of the veteran Jets anonymously quoted about how much money has been given to free agents. If the Jets don't plan on giving him what he wants, they should look to trade him before he turns into the next Pete Kendall.
