First i want to say that i am ecstatic about all the moves we have made this offseason. I think that we are infinitely better then we were a year ago. there is no denying that some of the pieces we have given up are great (i.e., Vilma) but what we've gotten back in return is just a much better fit for Mangini's current system, not to mention a much improved o-line.

That said, what bothers me most is that as i sit and think about what the jets may or may not do in the upcoming draft (pick mcfadden, gholston, etc) i can't help but think that they're going to get screwed. as it stands right now...this draft is looking extremely deep and no matter what they do in the #6 spot, New England is sitting right there behind them waiting to pick and impact player. furthermore, what really sucks is they Jets are most likely going to have to sit there and decide between mcfadden or gholston, all the while thinking that mcfadden may be the best avail player (and a huge boost offensively), but can we afford to let the pats pick gholston after us, etc. etc.

clearly, there's nothing that can be done, but it seems utterly ridiculous that the patriots get caught with this whole spygate thing only to have the league take away the 30th pick but allow them to keep the #7 pick!?!?! I don't know, but the whole situation reeks of incompetence by the commissioner and the league as a whole.

    Sorry for the long rant....

I am not pissed about that, but it is a good point. Knowing the Jets, whoever they pass up will become a 10 time Pro Bowler in New England.

If McFadden drops bet your house on the fact Dallas is calling, offering 2 # 1's because JJ has a bigger crush on McFadden then some of the people on this board, and that there is 2 Quality picks that can help. Combination of a WR & a DE or CB, OLB, S... don't base what we have to do on what the Patriots are going to do.

you can't think like that. i've heard some on the board say, If we take Gholston, DMC will kill us in NE, or if we take DMC, Gholston will destroy if NE picks him.

No matter who we take, NE will get a good player. So why worry about, nothing you or anyone can stop them from picking #7 or trading down for more picks.

like NE will give us their 7th picks...

don't worry about things you can't control. it's almost pointless.

That's our problem, we can't worry about what the patriots are going to do just do what's best for our team and let the players decide the outcome. You don't here any of the patriots worrying about what the Jets are going to do.

So, the short version is, you thing that whom the pats may pick behind us not only affects whom we pick, but also "screws" us.

The Jets will take BPA. No matter what we do the pats pick next.

Quit worring about what you can not change. Not only good advise for our front office but you as well.

Do not concentrate on what the pats will do, but what we need to do to get better.

The Jets can't draft in fear of who the Patriots are going to pick. I am content in the knowledge that the Patriots are only making one first round draft choice this year due to the Jets. Pladow.

Having 'just' picked Maroney in the first round, I don't see NE squandering a pick on another RB when their D is of rocking-chair age.

You know...everything that everyone is saying is 100% accurate. Clearly all of this is water under the bridge and i really don't want or expect the jets to pick based on not wanting the pats to get ______ . I guess my whole rant was a long winded way of saying that it's complete B.S. that the way that the league penalized the pats was by taking away they're own pick but not their inherited pick from the niners....

besides, if they were going to take away only one pick, it would seem that it would have made much more sense to have waited and said the pats are forced to surrender the higher of the two picks in the upcoming draft. i mean think about it...the team gets caught cheating and they get fined money that means nothing to ownership and then has to give up their own pick fully knowing that the pick they are getting from the niners is going to be better then their own anyway (i don't think any of us were naive enough to think the niners were going to have a better record then the pats!!)

I think everyone assumes that DMC and Gholston will be at 6. I think the raiders will probably take DMC, so the decision is preety easy.

I'm not going to be pissed because I like Gholston/Long better than McFadden.

Pass rusher/OLB in the 3-4 is way more valuable than a RB.

And having just traded for Thomas Jones and giving him a new contract last year, I don't see the Jets squandering a pick an another RB when there are so many good players out there at positions of much much greater need, even after the FA signings.
