Patriots release Kyle Brady Saturday, Mar 1, 2008 5:28 am EST http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/rumors The New England Patriots announced that they've released tight end Kyle Brady. The 36-year-old, who signed with New England last offseason, is a 13-year NFL veteran. Brady's release is likely tied to a shoulder injury that was likely to affect his availability for training camp according to the Boston Globe. Last season, he caught nine passes for 70 yards and two touchdowns while playing in 14 games with nine starts for New England. But his best work came blocking. His contributions in the running game helped the Patriots finish the season averaging 4.10 yards per rush, the team's best total since 1985. The 6-foot-6-inch, 280-pound tight end has played in 197 career games with 175 starts and has caught 343 passes for 3,519 yards (10.3 avg.) and 25 touchdowns. Maybe signing Moss isn't a slam dunk for New England Saturday, Mar 1, 2008 5:23 am EST Randy Moss and a long-term deal with the New England Patriots has yet to happen, and its delay has some thinking that perhaps his return isn't the slam dunk everyone once thought according to Boston.com. A deal done behind closed doors has been rumored for the past week now, ever since the team elected not to place the dreaded franchise tag on their star wide receiver. But the reality is, Randy Moss is right now a free agent. Who's to say that one team won't come out of the blue with a monumental offer before he puts ink to paper in Foxborough? The Patriots had to wait until today's official start of free agency, 12:01 a.m. EST, to sign Moss to a deal due to a technicality in their original deal. As the San Diego Tribune's Jerry Magee explains, "After acquiring Moss from Oakland for a fourth-round draft choice before the 2007 season, the Patriots restructured his contract to a one-year arrangement. A proviso of that contract was that it could not be rearranged until the NFL's free agency signing procedure began, which it did last night." Source: Boston.com
"With the ninth overall pick, The New York Jets select tight end Kyle Brady" Aaaargh the nightmare! We could have had Sapp or Brooks but ended up with this guy. And PFT has rumours that Moss ends up in Eagles:
Hmmm, that's the second N.E. player that I've heard of that was released because of "unreported" injuries. I wonder what else they are/were hiding. As for Moss, I think that some teams are bidding just to screw over N.E. and drive up his price a tad though I wouldn't be surprised to see him sign a HUGE deal with some other team.
We need a blocking TE so Baker can be a receiver, why not let him finish with the team that drafted him??
Yea! Someone agrees with me! I was going to suggest that, but didn't for fear of being "dog piled". :rofl2:
Thank god, now we don't have to hear that stupid Brady bunch joke everytime Kyle Brady catches a pass from Tom.
