As SouthBayJetsFan4Life pointed out, if things don't go Moss's way, he'll be a crybaby. Beside the wonderful Super Bowl, not much went wrong for the Patsies. Moss did not have something to complain about. Start losing and it's a different story. The only was Moss comes to the Jets and stays in line is his old buddy Penny steps in as a buffer. But I don't see it happening. I just hope all this $$$ for FA is worth it.
There is no way on this earth that Moss signs with us. I doubt that we have even talked to him. He's locked to being a Patriot - at least I think emotionally, anyway. He has to know he can have some great seasons up there. If he stays there he may not get top dollar green, but he certainly won't get poor either. And, if he stays there he still has a legitimate chance to get a SB ring (although I am rooting for them to be done for awhile).
Image all the space that Cotchery and Coles would have with Moss on the field. Plus, he's the red zone threat the Jets lack. And he could actually catch those friggin fade passes that Shottenheimer insists on throwing. The Jets won't be 4-12 this year, they'll be in contention every week. And he and Pennington were friends, are friends. Let's not be afraid to be great.
There's another fly in the anoitment with a Moss signing. It would almost guarantee Pennington being under center come September.Moss and Pennington were good friends while at Marshall and put up some big numbers.
Moss wouldn't hold enough power here to get Pennington to be starter. Moss is NOT going anywhere. He does not want to leave Boston, Tom Brady does not want him to leave either. Also, this would put us in cap HELL. We need to extend Rhodes's contract, which will be a big contract and now with big contracts given to Jenkins, and most likely Faneca, we can't afford another really large contract. Don't forget that with the 6th pick in the draft, that will have to be another large contract, as well. We got some quality players in Jenkins and Faneca, now we need to get some young guys (such as Shane Olivea) who we would not have to break the bank on.
I think Peter King's computer would explode after all the expletives he would write in his article bad mouthing Mangini and the Jets.....
I am not sure about this, but think of it this way; Randy Moss is a serious talent and I would rather have him on the Jets than on the Pats.
Why can't the Jets go after Bryant Johnson of the Cardinals? He seemed pretty good when Fitzgerald and Boldin were injured...
That could be like shooting ourselves in the foot while trying to acquire Faneca. Who knows though, maybe they will make a run at him after Faneca signs on the dotted line. Nothing would surprise me right now considering how aggressive they've been so far.
