So we moved VIlma, but didn't get any picks this year, we gave up two picks to get Jenkins, yet given that we are shopping some of high profile players (and have traded our MOST high profile one) we clearly realize we are in rebuilding mode adn are therefore in need of picks. Given that, I've got to believe we haven't sent away the picks we've sent without having a plan to recoup them. That suggests to me that we are planning on moving down from 6. What do you guys think? I mean, could you IMAGINE getting, say, a late 2 for DRob and Dallas's two firsts and Barber for the #6, then ending up with a draft haul of #22: Quentin Groves, #28: Antonio Rodgers-Cromartie, #36: Gosder Cherilus, (for DRob) Red Bryant, Kris Jenkins, Marion Barber, (round 4 pick): Mike McGlynn, etc etc etc. I'm sure we all have our pet scenarios, but my point is, we're rebuilding, but we haven't gained any picks yet; I think we are planning to do so in the draft.
not gonna happen. Dallas will be going for Miami's pick because i think Miami is desperate and Dallas wants to assure that they can get McFadden. Also, no chance in hell that we get a late second for DRob. I think Vilma had more value than DRob and we got a conditional 4th round pick for Vilma.
Red Bryant = Kris Jenkins, we wouldn't spend that kind of pick on another NT prospect with similar build.
our scenarios are all over the place, and its just fun to speculate, but in reality I dont think trading down with dallas is an option anymore. They are going to do everything to move up to #1, and if they cant move to #1 on draft day they will find a way to move into the top 5 to grab Mcfadden, honest to god if DMC falls to six somehow without dallas being able to move up, we take that deal and trade back as fast as possible. I also dont think we can get Barber out of Dallas at 6 either. I dont think there is a justification for Dallas to move Barber and Jones, and leave DMC as the only RB in their backfield....
I didn't see a NT in this draft for us anyway. Hopefully we use our first two picks to get talented players at OT, OLB, CB, RB, or WR.
I could definitely see us taking a DT in this draft. Jenkins is a huge upgrade it seems, but he hasn't played the 3-4 and there will be a transition. Plus, he's 29, and it wouldn't hurt to have a 3-4 DT in the wings aside from Pouha. FA, and these trades have enabled Tannenbaum to go more BPA, and I think that is a great move.
I think it would be great if we could trade out of the top 6 and pick in the middle of the first round and get another two picks. The few three rounds seem extremely deep compared with years past. Hopefully they can get a third for Robertson and then trade down in the first. Keeping in mind next year we already have two extra picks one from New Orleans (TBD) and the Skins 4th round pick.
I disagree. I don't think it's likely that Miami, St. Louis Kansas City or Atlanta would pick up McFadden, so why trade for the top pick? MAYBE Oakland might take him, but even then they'd only need to get to #3, not #1. I think the Jets and the Patriots are the most likely trading partners, should Dallas go balls out for Dmac.
i dont think that this trade will affect the top of the draft but, it will affect the later rounds, now we have to look in the 3-4 round to get a ilb to compliment harris. If we sign a lg(Faneca) then it would really affect round 2 cuz then instead of looking for one there, we could look for a tackle in round 2 and get a olb (Gholston), i firmly believe he will be there.
yeah everymove more or less has some draft implication even if its indirectly ie. salary cap moves. But I think it creates more flexibility for the Jets. I think that these two moves (pending one) would mean the jets are probably going to trade down because alot more needs are taken care of. considering how salaries for draft picks at least in the first are judged by position I think it makes sense for them to trade down for maybe two picks. I dont know yet. I think that now the Jets can focus more on getting a wide out and I think that since no one is top tier material than we could trade down maybe even get some more of a pass rush and wideout. I dont think Running back is as big a concern as it is made out to be but still you never know
