I know he's been healthy for 2 years, but is he the same player? Or at least a similar player? Some players recover from injuries well. Some don't (Sam Cowart, anyone?)

I think Sam was also hurt by playing out of position after his recovery and signing with the Jets.

Because I think Vilma could be a great player again with some beef in front of him *no homo*.

Yessir, I think it is more the effect that the media's portrayal of a player's effectiveness has on the opinions of fans of different teams, and Fred Taylor is a great example. I can tell you just how any Jets player has been doing because I watch all of the games, sometimes more than once, but I just don't have the time to watch every other team's games so I am forced to either take the opinions of other fans on message boards, the opinions of beat writers of other teams, go by their stats, or a combo of the three. And I don't think any of them can give you as much info as simply being able to see how a player is doing on the field.

And I agree, if it came down to it, I would choose Jenkins over Rogers twice on Sunday.

Cowarts stay here would have been remembered totally differently had he been playing MLB for us from the start. Ironically, he was an ideal fit for the defense we are running now. A damn shame

He's not fit for the 3-4...no matter what. He's an awesome 'backer in a Cover 2 scheme. The FO doesn't want him, so they might as well ship him out while he still holds some value, because after next year he's gone anyway. *you're white-o*

So the tallest player on our DL would be our NT?

    Yay.

I live in Charlotte and most Panthers fans I talk to do not want to lose him....I watch their games occasionally when the Jets aren't on at the same time and he is a beast at the point of attack....teams will need to double team him 90% of the time or pay the price for leaving him one on one.

I think that if Rogers was on a winning team, a team that had a legit shot to make the playoffs he would play harder.

He has randy moss syndrome, i mean seriously, would you bust your ass for the lions knowing damn well your not making the playoffs........i don't think so.

All I know is that this is exciting. Jenkins would be fantastic. Rogers would be great, too. There are 4 positions I want addressed more than anything else, NT, LG, RT, and a pass rushing OLB. If Faneca comes here, we have our LG. If Jenkins or Rogers comes here, we have our NT. Upgrade RT (maybe Bender or someone in the draft?) and get me someone who can hit the QB and our team will be a lot better.

Hopefully the QB position won't bring us down because if we do get one of these NTs and a pass rusher, our defense will be a force. I can't wait.

Detroit was 5-2 at some point last year. They were a contender.

The good news is being in competition for 2 NTs should help drive the price down a bit for whichever deal we end up taking. Knowing Tannenbaum I bet we pull off some kind of coup trade.

there is a chance rpbertson restructures his salary

id like to see him stay, he could be a good DE

and id love to see SHaun Rodgers come to the Jets.

He and Poiuha would make a very good rotation at NG and may finally solve our gaping whole in the middle of the D

Just saw we gave up third and fifth for Jenkins, I hope it's not true, why would we give up two picks for him and give Vilma away for free. I really don't know what man/tan are doing. I mean two picks!!

And since when is a draft pick free? Just because it's in 2009 and not now doesn't mean it's "free". You don't even know the conditions of the pick, what if he plays really well and we end up with a first round pick? Will you still be saying we gave Vilma away for free if we have two 1sts or two 2nds in 2009?
