I've heard the Jets spoke to James Hardy today.....I'll get the link in a moment. Jets Meet With Big Man Friday, February 22nd 2008, 4:08 pm by Gary Grund The Jets met with one of the tallest wide receivers in the draft today. Indiana Hoosiers 6-6 wideout James Hardy met with the team and will possibly be available to the Jets when their second round pick rolls around. Some have compared Hardy to the Giants’ top wide receiver Plaxico Burress, but he lacks the bulk, strength, and explosive burst that Burress brings to the game. Hardy, 22, recorded 79 receptions for 1,125 yards and 16 touchdowns for the Hoosiers this past season. | Leave A Comment
I would LOVE Hardy with our second pick if he's there. I think he'd be a perfect compliment to Cotch/Coles (if he's here).
Dustin Keller, Purdue has stole the show for TEs.......4.53 40 time and had a great high jump. Looks great catching the ball. a natural. Keller helped his stock. Negative: On the small size only 6' 2", but he's very strong. Needs work on blocking, probably more of a H Back/Slot player. IMO, now a solid Rd 3 player, may squeak in the bottom of Rd 2. NFL Network (Jaime Dukes) interviewed Keller, really nice kid, articulate and smart. http://purduesports.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/keller_dustin00.html
Checked out NFLDraftCountdown weigh ins and came away with this: - A lot of QBs checked in under 6'3" (Booty, Brennan, Brohm, Flynn, Henne, Johnson) - Booty had the smallest hands of that group 8.5" - Dixon has gorilla arms, he is 3 inches shorter than Flacco but has 3 inch longer arms. (Actually, he had 3 inches on everyone else's arms) - Matt Forte checked in lighter than I expected. He is not small, but I thought he would be in the 220s for a power back. - Some of the smallest guys have the biggest hands which should help in fumble problems (Thomas Brown, Justin Forsett and Calvin Dawson each checked in at 5'8" and have 10" or bigger hands). - Peyton Hillis is a load, I am now rooting for him as a 4th round pick or later.
Hooooly crap. That's like 30 lbs. over his normal playing weight! Does he project to a 4-3/3-4 DE now instead of 3-4 OLB?
Yeah, we're gonna have to wait for more on this I guess. If he hit the weights hard then good for him, he probably locks himself into the top 15. If not, he's probably down into the second round, if not worse.
players id be happy with at 6. in no particular order OLB vernon gholston RT jake long (hes strong enough to move to RT) DE chris long (if he magically is there) WR mario manningham (theres no depth here, became abundantly clear when coles went down) WR limas sweed (I m ight like him more than manningham due to his size and toughness, plus hes insanely quick nasty in the open field)
that?s still a little undersized for the 34. And i highly doubt that he can be effective playing 2-gap. He would be a better prospect for us, at 255-270 to play OLB. If he runs in the 460s as expected, and hits the weights good, he?s gonna shoot up into the top 10, maybe even top 5.
He was going to be an OLB for us. If he can still run a 4.6 like he was supposed to then that means it was good weight he put on. And he will most likely be our pick at 6.
http://www.tfydraft.com/news.php?newsID=67 http://fflivewire.com/players/Player...Num=8&GO=GO! Both report Harvey at 271, which sounds way more accurate. I heard NFL Network reported 291 multiple times, but that in Harvey's conference he said he weighed 271. Sucks that I'm missing so much of this combine right now.
Kentwan Balmer I like the sound of this kid, where do you reckon he goes and could he play DE in the 3-4 This is from tfy Kentwan Balmer/DT/North Carolina - Measured in at 6 feet 4 and a half inches tall and 308 pounds. - Obvious during interview the defensive tackle is football smart. Went in depth about a sack against Maryland based solely on the foot alignment of the offensive lineman he was covering on said play. - Gave the new staff all the credit for where he is today. "The taught me how to study film, watch what I eat, and rest properly." - Compares his game to Richard Seymour of the New England Patriots.
