Jets awarded a third-round pick http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/jets/story/403539p-341799c.html The Jets are going to be one of the NFL's busiest teams on the first day of the draft. They were awarded a third-round compensatory pick yesterday by the league (No. 97 overall), giving them five selections in the first three rounds: two first-rounders, a second-rounder and a pair of third-rounders. Of the 32 picks given to 19 teams (based on free-agent losses from a year ago) the Jets' choice was the highest. Compensatory picks can't be traded, so the Jets can't package the choice in an attempt to trade up from fourth in the first round. # The Jets signed former Broncos DT Monsanto Pope (6-3, 300). Terms were undisclosed. Pope started 21 games in four seasons for Denver, compiling six tackles and 80 tackles. He was a healthy scratch for most of the 2005 season, appearing in only two games. Great job hydro, keep these articles coming. The first one was a great read, Mangini seems like he knows what he is doing.
Hydro, I apologize for stepping on your toes and posting that NY POST column ... You do the board such a service with this and it's your gig, so my apologies ... I won't let it happen again  Atten Mods: Please delete that thread I started ... this is Hydro's Gig and it should stay that way Thanks
I like the part about the J-E-T-S chant. It's not very often we get an outsiders perspective on that (Jason Taylor doesn't count). It's definitely one of the great things about being a Jets fan, an identity almost. If only we would be louder when we do it, it could send a real chill down the spines of our opponents.
Good job yet again hydro, Coach mangina will be known around the league and country soon enough. Having a good draft will only help that. Can it be? have the jets finally made the move to get the perfect coach for this team? and what about that fan that didn't recognize him? and he calls himself a jets fan. bah.
What im really happy about is the jets getting the highest compensatory pick in the 3rd round. Good shit. Yo hydro pass the dutchy.
Saints | Team lands J. Goodwin Tue, 28 Mar 2006 07:02:56 -0800 Mike Triplett, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports the New Orleans Saints have signed free agent OL Jonathan Goodwin (Jets) to an undisclosed contract. Goodwin can play guard or center, which gives the Saints some flexibility.
Guys, I posted over the weekend that I watched every snap of the Jets vs. Buffalo game on 1/1, and focused on the O-line only.. A. Jones played really well. Goodwin was absolutely putrid. He was Sam Adams' whipping boy all game. I don't know what Marone is thinking with this pickup, but I'm glad the Jets let Goodwin walk without so much as a "see ya' later." Like Mangini has been saying, let's be unemotional in decision making about this team. Goodwin was/is horrible.
I hope Mangini and Tannenbaum are ready to handle all the draft day possibilities and handle it well. They're inexperienced but they have a lot of cards they can play.
