Everyone makes mention of the glaring needs at LG and RT, but what if D'Brickashaw never gets any better? How do you guys feel about D'Brickashaw in his development as a player and his future with the NYJ.

I feel like this season is make or break for Ferguson. If we get someone decent to play at LG, he will have no excuse but to play at a higher level.

He already is a good LT.

Will he be a consistent Pro-Bowler? Put a G next to him and see what happens. The guy absolutely dominated in some games last season...Jason Taylor might still be licking his wounds from the ass kicking D'Brick did to him. He's not going to look all that great if theres a human turnstile next to him...which of course Mangini should have fixed once we knew Clarke was a bust.

Can anyone give a detailed report of his play in games this season? I never really paid attention to his position or how well he was playing it. I can't imagine he actually did that well this season considering all the sacks allowed but at the same time I'm sure most of the blame should not be put on him.

Had Pete Kendall next to him in 2006. Still managed to give up sack after sack. What's the excuse for that year? That he was a rookie?

He's an average LT at best that was extremely overrated coming out of college. When you are the 4th overall pick coming out of the draft, I want to see things that quality top-5 pick playing.

People made this guy out to be the next Pace or Ogden. He's certainly not that.

    Who knows? Not I.

Based on the first two seasons he's not going to be great. It's going to take an attitude adjustment and probably a 10-20 pound weight increase for him to be very good.

Who was the worst pick? Mario Williams No1, Reggie Bush No2, Vince Young No3, Ferguson No4? I haven't heard much about Mario Williams, but was he worth the number one pick? Definitely Bush and Young were not worth the number 2 and 3 picks just like Ferguson was not worth the number 4 pick. I know Terry Bradshaw last year was praising Vince Young but he had close to the worst QB rating in 2007. Were there any players in 2006 that were picked later that were worth the first four picks looking back after two years?

It seems like even though offensive line are relatively easy to plug in immediately compared to other positions, it takes a lot of them a long time to develop into top flight linemen. I think given time D'Brickashaw will turn out to be an excellent starting LT. I'd rather he go through growing pains when the team isn't at the top of its game then when they are making a run at the playoffs and he finds a way to blow it for us.

    True...thats not a legit argument...

And when did Kendall become this great G?

He's an average LT right now with elite potential and elite athletic ability.

Can I ask for a non-hindsight based answer on why he was overrated coming out of college?

No they didn't, but you've done a nice job convincing yourself of that.

The guy has started at LT from Day 1 and has done a fine job with hints of dominance. He's 23. Walter Jones' best year came when he was 30 (with Hutch in his monster year).

I couldnt disagree more. He has hardly shown anything resembling dominance....ineptitude maybe but not dominance. He gets no push in the running game and looks like hes playing on skates in his pass sets. He is routinely overpowered by the bullrush and averages giving up a sack a game.

Can he improve...yes, but as of right now hes a disapointment and thats being kind.

I'm guessing you missed weeks 2 through 9 last season. He shut out Osi, Taylor, Suggs, Schobel, Geathers, Smith, and Trent Cole down the stretch.

Joe Thomas plays next to Eric Steinbach.

Bryant McKinnie plays next to Steve Hutchinson.

Walter Jones had his best seasons next to Hutch.

Flozell Adams had his best season next to Davis.

Matt Light plays next to Mankins.

The Bills gave Dockery 18+ million guaranteed to play next to Peters.

The O-line is a unit, and is only as strong as it's weakest link. Notice that Mangold didn't have as dominant a season, Moore didn't play as well, and Clement fell off a cliff with Adriane Clarke starting most of the games as G's. D'Brick played very well for a guy who played next to the worst starting LG in the NFL.

Exactly. Everyone seems ready to call Brick a bust, but he improved every week last year and in my opinion started to become dominant. I think this year he will make the Pro Bowl.

D'Brick will be a solid, if unspectacular, LT for ten next 10 years or so. With him we will be set (not a position of concern) at LT for a long time (barring injury). Is there really much more that you want from a high draft pick?

D'Brick made huge improvement in his technique from year one to year two. His footwork on passes made a big jump and his run blocking improved massively..Age will add weight and he will be an excellent player at his position for many years.

The only position DBrick looks like he's developing into is a TE. (If I'm Chris Baker, I'm worried about my position on the depth chart)
WHY IS THIS MAN STILL SHRINKING? I watched that video that was posted here the other day and I was just amazed that the guy sitting next to Dbrick was almost as big as Dbrick. That's what an NFL offensive lineman is supposed to look like?!
I know his arm-span is tremendous, but there is a difference between using his arms as turnstiles and using them as barriers. So far, it's been the former.
Maybe he's insecure or something about getting fat. I don't know what it is, but I know I would buy that man a large pizza every time I saw him.
Will he develop into a "Good" LT? No. He should already be good at the very least.
He was SUPPOSED TO BE ELITE.

Brick is shrinking becuase he has the metabolism of a 24 year old... He may not be able to gain weight for another few years until it slows down.
