Prices of stadium name sponsorships soar Stadium naming rights deals grow pricier; New Giants, Jets stadium could set record AP / Updated: 2:48 PM ET Feb 10, 2008 All sports teams want bragging rights, but with the cost of a new stadium now more than $1 billion, it's naming rights they're after. As several of the most storied franchises in sports replace their stadiums, sports marketing experts expect corporations to pay record amounts for the right to name them. And the teams are finding ways to make the big price tags worthwhile by maximizing the amount of exposure of a company's name and logo, even integrating it into the design of the building."There's more value to what's being offered," said Marc Ganis, president of SportsCorp Ltd., a Chicago sports marketing firm. Especially in the New York market, where several new stadiums are going up and garnering record deals, corporations are getting more exposure and visibility, he said. Already sold for record numbers: rights to the New York Mets' new stadium, purchased by Citigroup Inc. for more than $400 million over 20 years. Next up, the Chicago Cubs, as its new owner, Sam Zell, says he wants revenue from the historic ball field that still bears the name of a former owner that pays nothing to call the stadium Wrigley Field. But the deal expected to set naming rights records is the new football stadium for the New York Giants and New York  Jets  in East Rutherford. The stadium would create a historic proposition, Ganis said: The most value ever offered, in the most expensive media market, and for two NFL franchises. He predicts the deal to go for at least $25 million to $30 million annually.
So, with 6,255 current members, if we all chip in 24,000 dollars, it could be The Gang Green dot com Stadium for the next 5 years. (at 30 million per.) WHO'S WITH ME!?!??!!!
If we did that, we could name it "Champ69 Stadium" and insist on a live feed tickertape along the outside of the stadium for posts. Then, every day, we feed Champ's posts along the tickertape... "39 years and no SB... Woody is cheap... We'll never win another one... Mangini has to get rid of everybody... blah, blah, blah..."
Well IMHO that is one terrific suggestion you made since it may finally embarass Woody enough to finally build us into a true SB contender.
Well just maybe that would knock Woody out of his stupor. I cannot understand you that you seem to clamor for a WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP just like me but you are a total homer OTH & do not want to see any change. Once you & others realize that we have had & continue to have garbage players representing us then maybe we can begin to get on Woody a$$ to change things in this age of internet communications. Tell me why you think your idea maybe harmful to improving the NYJs. Again I think it is a top 10 suggestion to improve the NYJs.
I am fucking juiced for the new stadium it looks awesome and it will not just be Giant stadium anymore thank God.
Of course it's going to set the record....time value of money. That's as dumb as when they say there's a record number of voters every election (THERE'S MORE PEOPLE VOTING). Right?
Are you season tic holder? If so, are you juiced to pay 5k-10k per seat for the tight to buy your season tics that will be 50% more then it is now or are you the stay at home guy that criticizes the people at the game. Either way, I don't get the statement. When we are home, its our place, the name does not mean squat to the fans.
and it STILL won't be JETS Stadium.... ugh I'm sorry, Can you please provide the Link that announces that the New Stadium is going to have PSL's. Thanks
www.sportsownersaregreedyfthefans.com I tell you why I know. Because they refused to say there won't be. Every team has done it since the Ravens.
I think there will definitely be PSLs - but has anyone heard anything about costs? Some of my friends say that they can be as high as $10K per seat. I'm hoping that this will not be the case, obviously.
10 K a seat PSL's is rediculous thats a lot of money to cough up. Now granted I live in central NY no where near a Jets home game, as much as I want to go to one, I probably wont be going anytime soon. I also have no clue about PSL's and how they work. I am on the side of the normal fan here, I want a great stadium to call our own, that the Jet faithfull can actually afford to sit in. Do PSL's work so that you have to pay that amount to reserve the seat for one season? Then in addition you have to pay for the season tickets as well? Is the PSL for a certain number of years? say every 5 years you have to re-new your PSL but in the off 4 years you only have to pay for the season tickets?
