Your right he will not fall to six but in the event that he does he is too good of a talent to let go. We can not afford to let an elite talent slide if he is as good as everyone says he is.

The more I see of McFadden the less I like. If we cant trade the pick then BPA for our need.
I do like Mayock but sometimes he over analizes players , but I've just watched NFL Nwrk and he does highlight alot of really bad issues with DMC , he carries the ball in the wrong hand on sweeps , How basic is that???? His legs stop working once contact is made.
Just those issues alone concern me. They should be corrected by good coaching....but are you going to take the chance?

    Why would we want Barber?

If we even wanted a RB we would just take Darren mcFaddon

Ok, I'm sure this point has been made countless of times, but I just want to reiterate it.

Using a first-round pick on McFadden does not mean they are going to completely ignore the other holes on this team. There's another 6 rounds in the draft, plus free agency. This team is not going to be in a position to make a title run next year, so you might as well be smart and take a guy who can be as dynamic of a player that has ever come out before. The OL and DL can still be addressed through FA and the rest of the draft.

If you get a chance to get a franchise-defining player, you have to do it.

Because the odds are that he is a more productive back than McFadden will be. You are assuming that McFadden will be a gamebreaker before he is even drafted. Many people thought the same thing about Reggie Bush. Players do not automatically convert to the NFL, as dozens of first round busts can attest to. It's not all about talent.

100% agreed. No F'n way the Atlanta Falcons will pass on this kid. They need a offensive playmaker in the worst way and is a good fit overall. If he got to 6 I wouldn't even want him. We have two viable RB's already and we have many holes to fill and guess what guys? RB ain't one of them.

The fact that they started Joey Harrington at Qb most of the year might be one reason. At this point I kind of agree with you and think the Falcons would take him but there are so many factors that can and will change everything come draft day.

To sit here now in mid February and say there is no chance he makes it to 6 leads me to believe you dont really understand how the draft actually works. It is also completely realistic to believe that if he is sitting there at 6, the Jets would take him. Upgrading the overall talent on this team is as big a need as any.

The Falcon's would pass on DMC because they need someone squeaky clean after Vick. DMC is not squeaky clean.

The last thing we need is an elite skill player on O, it will just throw off the balance of our Offensive attack and set us back another 2 or 3 years.

Exactly...say we sign a good G or T this offseason...Bender or a later draft pick at G/T....I don't see anything wrong with picking McFadden if they think he's BPA.

We don't "need" Marion Barber? Really? You think the Jones / Washington platoon is just as good??

Marion the Barbarian breaks at least 3 tackles on every play and is not only a punishing N-S runner; he can cut on a dime and his balance is incredible.

I rode Barber all year in Fantasy to the title. He finished up with around a dozen rushing TDs, while only getting about 10 carries a game. And the man averages (just about) 5.0 yards per carry or better every year.

I mean strictly speaking, no team "needs" anyone. It's all about winning. But you win with talent and playmakers. And how is he not an upgrade over Thomas Jones!!???

Marion Barber is not going anywhere. Why on gods green earth would the Cowboys trade him PLUS pick(s) for some unproven back???? It's just not going to happen.

I must agree...I don't think Atlanta would take Mcfadden......they have Norwood and Dunn (for now) and I think Dimitroff will go for a lineman (AS WE SHOULD) ...if Jake long isn't there...I'd go with Ellis from USC...hard to say right now because of the FA deals that may come up

Tell me where we are going to find an OLB pass rusher with the talent and potential that Vernon Gholston has. No one is out there, Suggs is off the market, there is no pass rushing playmaker out there. We ignored it last offseason, we can not do that this offseason.
