    He's also a 3-4 DE.

Actually, we can draft D'Brickashaw and bolster our line names.

I don't know enough about Pope.

Pope is a solid depth signing, but I still don't see a player that can handle the nose on our roster yet. Could be a position addressed after June 1, but that would mean a long period of whining, followed by some monumental poopy-pants tantrums.

Lots of good news today between this signing and the comp pick. Hope we pick D'Brick!

Hardly. Every DL signing makes it more likely that AJ Hawk will be a Jet.

I see him probably rotating in at DE in the 3-4, right? He adds depth and can eat up some blockers

Good post and even better pic (this isn't 'nam... this is bowling, there are rules) It seems like D-rob and pouha are our NT's but idk how sold I am with D-Rob there and who the hell knows what to expect with pouha

None of these signings mean anything if they are going to draft the BPA. Not many current players on our roster will be here in 2008.

Actually, I wasn't kidding, when he was coming out I saw him as a NT. He's very powerful down low, but not really quick or sudden. 295 does sound light for a nose, but I have a feeling that weight measurement might be off.

Reading what Tanny said i'm glad to hear that he mentioned this signing as good for DEPTH...No problem with getting players who will come in just to give the starters a breather.

Monsanto Pope is a nose tackle. The fact that hes a tad undersized to play the nose in the 3-4 doesnt change the fact that hes a nose tackle, you dont play a guy like him at DE. If Ive got my facts straight, he was a nose tackle under Al Groh, another Parcells disciple, at Virginia. If he played the nose for Al Groh, hes already done everything Mangini is going to ask him to do. This kid is a nose. Is he a perfect player, does his signing mean that were not going to sign another nose tackle for the next ten years? Almost certainly not, but it does mean that we have a legit nose tackle on the roster now, which we didnt before today.

As our roster stands, I see it as Ellis owning one end, Pope and Pouha as 1-2 on the nose, and Robertson and Kimo can fight over the other end.

If its a choice between Robertson and Pope for nose tackle, you put the quicker and more athletic player at end, and thats Robertson. He weighs more, but hes still better suited to be a 3-4 end than a NT.

The more time goes by, the more we know who we might draft, now we all know atleast haloti ngata is not on our radar.

The ones who still jump out is mario williams and ferguson. Those are the standouts with the first pick so far.

you know, I would normally agree, but two years ago, when we took Vilma and had Cowart, we also picked up Barton. I know, Barton's an OLB and that was a different regime, but it bears watching. Just becuase we have enough BODIES to play the position doesn't mean we won't draft another.
