Mangini will rotate 6 or 7 defensive lineman. So expect d lineman to be drafted early and possible even more signings. Also, they will be playing both 3-4 and 4-3. And this guy is not the typical NT for a 3-4.

Why does everybody hate on Reed nowadays. He had a solid year filling in in '05.

Pope is a good player to have in a rotation.

Nothing more than a rotation player. Never seen him play but looking at his size he doesnt look like a run stuffer. But there isnt that much better for FA anyways. Sam Adams and Grady Jackson might be asking for too much. Bascially everyone that is left in FA is a role player/Special teams player. One thing I know he has to be an upgrade from James Reed.

Question: This guy will obviously play 4-3 DT and 3-4 DE... Do the signings of Pope and Von Olhoffen solidify the DE spot or is there still a chance we go after Mario Williams?

 beats the hell out of trading away a shot at a run-blocking, pass-catching te like heath miller for a stiff and a pair of 6th round draft choices.

props to woody for dumping dumbway and the herminator to bring in two guys who actually know what they're doing.

for being a R7 pick, he posted some pretty good numbers in only 48 games.

anyway, not a big signing; but not a bad one either.

at least this rules out Ngata as our early pick. we can now stop speculating those scenarios. i wonder if this rules out Gabe Watson too? I doubt he would have lasted until that #35 pick; but we can be almost certain we're not using #29 on him.

    cheers

Why not? Haloti, Sione, Kimo, and Monsanto. How sick would that be? We also could use a DE to replace such simple names such as "Shaun Ellis" and "Bryan Thomas."

No way. It's funny how we sign a very good backup, below average starter DT and everyone on the board thinks we just signed Lawrence Taylor to our team. Pope seems like more of an interior lineman and the possibility of adding a player like Super Mario who'd be a great end in either set would still be worthwhile.

Ha we'd have the best named and best run defending DL in the NFL.

Even when they drop back to pass they're so big they'd need good blocking on them so we blitz Vilma or Barton and they roam free to kill the QB!!!

I know it's not happening but if only... the only way to stop us would be to run outside.

Not a significant signing. But the DE rotation will be solid with Ellis, Kimo, Reed, Pope, and Robertson if he's moved to DE. We still need a Nose Tackle though....

Well a good role player, I have also seen him listed at 305, he has proven to make plays when in so all aro8und a solid signing, better than Reed, who weighed in at 285 and will push Pouha's fat ass to maybe get a little mean
