A good friend of mine and I were talking about the JETS and Broncos and how the other team is in a great need of the other's players.

Synopsis: Jonathan Vilma and Laverneus Coles (or Brad Smith) for DJ Williams and Jevon Walker.

I could obviously write in detail why this works, given the 3-4 here and 4-3 in Denver and other players not happy with their situation, this trade makes sense.

    Your thoughts...?

Damn it, you got me all excited, I thought the talks were actually going on. But getting Jevon Walker would be a great upgrade to our offense, but I don't think we need a Linebacker right now.

My thoughts are that the title is very misleading....Makes it seem as if the Jets and Broncos actually have something in the works.

The title should be "Sillier Trade by 2 Guys"
Don't knock the "Sillier"- it's a phrase coined by one of our most prominent members.

And that trade will never happen.

Hell no...Walker blows I rather keep Coles. Isn't DJ Williams smaller than Vilma?

No DJ Williams is a little bit bigger then Vilma i belive he's about 241 Pounds but i rather keep Coles and Vilma , Walker is Injury Prone and Williams is a Four Three LB.

I apologize for the misleading title...

Walker is unhappy in Denver because of the emergence of Brandon Marshall. Oh yeah, here's a news flash, Jevon Walker is what we call young in this league. Coles is getting older and is banged up more and more because of what Chad's done to him in the past. As for Vilma, let's be honest. If we're talking about sticking to the 3-4, which we are, Vilma is a waste. He's an awesome 4-3 LB and one that is needed in Denver. Getting DJ Williams, who is built for the 3-4, would be a solid addition.

WE DON'T NEED LB'S? WE BASICALLY NEED A NEW PHUCKING DEFENSE. And it's not like I'm proposing we go after a LB in the Draft. It's a trade that can be done.

Newsflash, almost EVERY, if not all, NFL TEAMS but the NEW YORK JETS have a premier wide receiver to name. Who have we had since Keyshawn?

Every team has a premier receiver, but us? First I don't consider Plaxico on a different level than Coles, Coles has been hurt, but when healthy he is a pro bowl receiver, he just hasn't always had the QB. Second, the raiders don't have a premier receiver, redskins no coles is better than moss, falcons not yet convinced of roddy white. The problem isn't the receivers it's qb consitency. Hopefully Kellen is the solution

the fact of the matter is,WE NEED O AND D LINE HELP!!! screw the recievers. we need to stop the run, protect the passer, and open holes for our rb's!!! did'nt we learn anything from sunday's game?

Jerry Porter could be named, and Santana lacks the QB position as well. But you get the point. And I'm well aware that we have other issues with our lines on both sides. But while doing that, what good is it for us to have Vilma (if healthy) when he's getting double teamed by O linemen and unable to shed the blocks and get to the ball?

I also hope, come March, Tanny does something with FA.

Despite DJ Williams leading the team in tackles this year, his move to the inside this year in the 4-3 was not all that successful.

While I like Walker and there are other things involved (Darrent Williames murder), he has shown in two places that he feels "disrespected" enough to speak out when he is not being treated as a #1 WR. The emergence of Brandon Marshall this year really bothered Walker.

Why would Walker want out of an offense that features a good Jay Cutler, Marshall, Brandon Stokley, Tony Scheffler and backfield of Selvin Young and Travis Henry?

The trade itself really doesn't do much for either team. It's pretty much a wash as far as I am concerned. And, I think that Denver would rather keep the WR with the injured knee that trade for a MLB with an injured knee.

Exactly what I was thinking. You know sometimes people have these "Maddenisms" around here and makes me wanna reach through the screen and slap em.

Coles is one of the Top possession receivers in the game right now. Yes that's right. In terms of Hands, He's top 3. GLUE!

Vilma is a Top 5 MLB when in a 4-3 and IMO if moved in the 3-4 next to Harris or to the outside he will excel again.

I'd like to see the percentage of player for player trades compared to player for draft pick trades.

Much less a four player swap.

they need 2 linebackers for their 4-3...dj williams is the only linebacker they would not get rid of right now
getting vilma to play in the middle of their 4-3 would move williams back to his natural position of OLB (they slid him to mlb bc they had no one else this year)
dj williams has a much higher value than vilma right now...and doesnt fit the 3-4
a scenario involving vilma and something else might make sense
also just to throw this in....the broncos never have a kick return man
justin miller might have his highest trade value in denver...

This trade makes no sense, why would we want DJ Williams if we're trading Vilma?

And why is Coles frustrated, and why trade for a guy that's already been frustrated in more than one place.

Are you guys out of it? And come through the screen and slap 'em because of Maddenisms? Royal Tee, besides talking smack on a message board, you can't physically do that. It's impossible to get through the wires of the internet.

    Think about it like this:

Vilma DOES NOT FIT INTO A 3-4. I love him, but he doesn't.
WALKER is the receiver who is unhappy, not Coles.
And Coles is near the top 3 possession receivers in the game, but top 3? Are you phucking nuts? I'm a HUGE JETS fan and I'm not that naive.

Let's also look at DJ Williams. How is he not a 3-4 LB? He's 6'1" 242 and made for the middle to outside. Vilma is made for the inside and at 230, cannot take on the linemen to make tackles like years in the past.

And name ONE playoff team, besides Washington (who got in with the run and defense), who doesn't have a big time #1 WR. ONE! You can't because not being able to have that guy KILLED WASH and it will continue to kill us until we get a big time guy. And I'm not saying Javon is the absolute answer. But you guys are phucking nuts to think that Coles, Cotch, Stucky, Smith, and the gang will bring us to the promise land.

So is Vilma...and Williams is stronger/more stout than Vilma is.
