Ugh. I don't like the idea of Bedard and Felix Hernandez together in their prime in the AL.

They are, but depending on what is included with Jones, the Orioles might have made a rare intelligent move.

Nah this is the 1st time that they have had a quality pitcher and what do they do, trade him away.

They sold high on Bedard's value and I dont blame him.

Hes a filthy pitcher, but a pitcher who is often hurt and tends to get shut down to end the season. They get back alot of the Mariners farm.

This is the very best they can get for him, before he barks for a big money deal and while his arm is still strong.

Bedard gets to go from one mediocre AL team to another.

The problem with that is that they have no pitching and have been waiting for a pitcher like Bedard for years now, waiting that long just to trade him while his value is high is moronic if you have nothing to replace him with

One pitcher does not a winning team make. The Orioles need a lot more than just a top-shelf pitcher. It'd only be moronic to trade him now without anyone to replace him if they were expecting to win this year, and if Bedard was the key to that winning. The O's were nowhere near that point.

So instead they have no one to build around instead of 1, you have to start somewhere and they had someone to build something around, now they have nothing.

Mike Mussina, Cal Ripken Jr, Eddie Murray, the O's have had some good players.

You say this, but do you even know anything about the players the O's would be getting? If you make the decision that you're in a rebuilding phase, you don't hold onto one already-developed 28-year-old star who is only cost controlled for two (I think?) more seasons, hoping that you can put together a winning team before he bolts for free agency. You're better off trying to restock your farm system with a group that can develop into ML-ready talent together.

Neither right now. Everyone else has agreed to the deal but Angelos still needs to approve it.

Mariners just signed another RF (Brad Wilkerson) and there are many people reporting that the trade could be back on.
