I don't know what kind of talant these guys have, but they certainly not household names.... What are you guys knowledge of them and do you think this is the same approach we've been using, patching thing up with castaways as opposed to pulling out the big guns and going after PROVEN talent? 01:43PM - Jets Bring In Three Linebackers Friday, January 4th, 2008 by Gary Grund According to Rich Cimini of the New York Daily News reports that the Jets brought in former Steelers linebacker Rian Wallace, former Saints Alfred Fincher and Trev Faulk formerly of the Saints and Rams for a visit. Wallace, 25, was a fifth-round draft pick by the Steelers in 2005. He was cut this year after limited play in his first two seasons. In his two years with Pittsburgh, he recorded 9 tackles and returned an interception for a touchdown. Fincher, 24, was a third-round draft pick by the Saints in 2005. He played in spots on the Saints defense for the last three seasons, he recorded 20 tackles. This year, he was placed on IR with a concussion last November. Faulk, 26, was undrafted and spent time with the Cowboys and Cardinals in 2002. He then signed a two-year contract with the Rams in 2004 and tore his hamstring in Week 1 of the 2005 season. He returned to action in week nine and became the starting middle linebacker and was later dropped to a backup. He was released by the Rams in July of 2006 and spent a couple of months with the Saints in 2007 before being released after week 1 of the preseason.
At least they are relatively young castaways. I saw Conrad Dobler interviewed the other night and the first thing I thought was: I hope Tangini's not watching this cuz Dobler's only 59, there's hope for a comeback yet.
Who else could they be looking at right now? The season is not even over yet. Most teams who miss the playoffs start to look at these types of guys around now. If they're still doing this in March I'll be concerned.
This is why I like Mike and Eric..Teams that didn't make the play-offs are on vacation, taking a few weeks to chill and these two are bringing in guys and working them out..Castaways...whatever..There WORKING the problem..not crying in their soup.
Fincher was looked upon as a poor man's Vilma, small quick and smart, I actually liked him in the draft, the other 2 I know nothing about
As long as they dont bring these guys in during the prime free agent signing period like last year. They passed on guys to bring in a bunch of bums like wadsworth.
Hey, all great points, I hadn't considered those thoughts, thanks for the insight, you are all correct in your views, I guess I was just concerned that this was going to be the trend....
