We are NOT getting a 1st rounder or 2nd rounder for Chad, UNLESS its Herm Edwards, No one in their right mind is giving up more than a 3rd round pick for Penny, I love Penny he is a TOUGH, Gutsy leader, but he's not worth a 1st round pick, we got TJ for a 4th round the Pats got Moss for a 4th round so with CP being a QB I'd say we 'may' get a 3rd round pick for CP.

Chad's not a backup, he should be starting somewhere else. I don't see us getting a 3rd though. A second round pick would be great. We could mabey straight up trade him for another player?

Even a bad line gives a QB time to throw numerous times a game, and when he did have time it was frightening.

Yeah I was truly frightened when he had time at the end of the Baltimore, Washington or Pittsburgh games.

The Jets will be lucky to get a 3rd for Chad if they get anything more it is a steal. It would be great value for a mediocre physically limited QB.

If looking good in a third of your starts (and only a portion of those, mind you) is a good thing for a quarterback, I'd hate to see the negative side.

Yeah I know it is difficult to believe that as bad as he was, he was much better than the other option.

Chad would be great in Minnesota.

I see the best fits for Chad's ability being Minnesota and the Ravens.

The Dolphin possibility is interesting, but I just don't know if we would trade within our division. If Parcell's called and said give me Chad and your #6 pick for the first pick in the draft, do you do it?

Why would Parcells do that trade. Why on earth would he want Pennington for that team. He is the exact opposite of what the Dolphins need or should have at QB. They have no way of hiding Chad's enormous shortcomings. He would look worse there then he did here if you can believe that.

The only reason I say this is Chad would fit his short term plans. Why? I can not see Parcells using the #1 pick on a QB. First, you will give the young kid big bucks and you really don't know for sure if he will pan out; it is a very big gamble. That said, do you put the ball in a second or third rounder's hands? I don't think so.

Remember what Parcells did when he came here. He got Testy in fast even though Bubby Brister (who really sucked) was our starting QB. I could definitely see Parcells being interested in Chad because he knows precisely what he is getting. Parcells is a ball control kind of guy and he may think that Pennington may be good for the first couple of years of his program.

    Couple of things............

No way Parcells trades within the division. No way he trades that #1 pick for Chad and our pick. It is of paramount importance for the Dolphins to shore up their lines first on both sides. They are in even worse shape then the Jets are. If he trades that pick it will be to a dumb team that wants DMAC in the worst way and is willing to ship the majority of hits draft and maybe next years to do so. By dumb not for wanting DMAC but for trading their entire draft to do so.

Also there is no consensus all world QB prospect in this draft. Noway in hell he is going to take one with #1 overall.

In my opinion the reason he will not trade for Chad is because of the reason you say he might.................. because he knows precisely what he is getting.

Anyway this is all moot. If Jeff Ireland is hired as GM for them they are going to follow Dallas's blueprint. Draft giants on both sides of the line.

    That is not true.

Brister was gone after the 1995 season. He sat out the 1996 season. He was not a member of any team in 1996.

Chad is broken and I don't know that he can be fixed at this point. He WAS a good game manager but his play this season trying to make up for his nonexistant arm was flat out stupid alot more times then it was smart. Maybe if he was in a better situation he'd be more careful with the ball, but the way he was slinging it around this year he'd suck anywhere he played.

Sorry, too much partying last night.

I meant O'Donnell and we suffered with him the first year of Parcells and then Parcells brought in Vinnie in 1998. I think ( brain foggy here ) Foley started the 1998 year and was horrible and then Vinnie took over and basically was on fire in '98 and that was the year we went 12-4 and damn near went to the Super Bowl; and if we had we would have beaten Atlanta.

The 50 mph winds in Denver played into our fate. What is weird is Vinnie looked great in the first half of the AFC Championship game and Elway was struggling. The second half featured the antithesis of Vinnie.

1997 started good for Neil O'Donnell when he threw 5 touchdown passes on an August afternoon in Seattle.

Foley did start the 1998 season and had a productive Week 1 game in San Francisco. He was 30 of 58 for 415 yards. Then he sucked bad in Week 2 against the Ravens.
