If you are a young guy who is a real position of authority -- even in business -- its very important to remain absolutely unflappable. When you lose control -- or even lose your calm -- people tend to trust you less. Look, at Tom Coughlin (not a young guy) -- who is emotional but seems to be bothered by everything and not in control.

That being said -- this was the first game that I saw (or the camera caught) Eric be a little emotional. At one point, on the 4 and 1 when they lost two -- you could clearly read his lips. It was a welcome change for once. I am a big fan of the coach -- and i dont think that he needs to wear his emotions -- but it was good to see that he has them.

I think he is like that when he is coaching a game, but every other aspect of his job, he is consistently level headed.

I've noticed a few occasions this season where the camera panned to him as he was spewing some profanity. Count me in for loving it too.

Mangini is going to be a heck of a coach. He's building his team and you just got to give him a chance.

Yeah I've always liked the guy, and he's working with what he has.

I love the guys that bash Tannebaum and Mangini for bringing in "bad" players, when they drafted Mangold, Harris, and Revis. Bowens has started to heat up late in the season and Kenyon Coleman would be a good player in a rotation or with an actual nose tackle, not D-Rob.

If Mangini doesn't start doing good things with this team by 2010, then he should be fired. He just needs the right pieces, and Harris and Revis are going to be awesome players in this league.

Yes, the thread title is clearly what Mangini said when we could not get the needed yardage on 4 and 1 and got tackled for a 2 or 3 yard loss. We have seen this at least 50+ times this year.

Translation: Break out the checkbook in Free Agency and fix this horrific offensive line.

Yeah, I saw that and I'm thinking, first off, I can't believe how pissed mangini is. Secondly, I'm thinking, he has to be dying to sign some quality linemen first thing come the March FA period.

We're not going to plug any holes with the draft, we need to really bust out in free agency.

In the Topic title, Mangini mouthed that out when they could not convert 4th and 1. Not sure if you did that purposely but if you didn't...Mangini is thinking the same thing :D

    yea i believe he said

    "Fuckin Run!"

    that was just awesome

reminded me of my coach this year when my retarded QB would hesitate and fuck up on fourth down...

and for Free Agency....i feel were gonna get maybe one or teo big names...not pro-bowlers but solid players then maybe some average then all depth...thats it

I can't agree more. I think this is the missing component for Mangini. He tries to hard to be even/unemotional/unaffected. It give me the preception that he is flat. I was good to see him jawing a little bit.

I think most people who understand you don't build a Super Bowl team overnight like Mangini but people who are results now types won't like any coach especially one with a plan that is going to take time to develop.

My thinking is Tangini has already drafted

    Mangold (future pro-bowler)
    Brick (solid LT)
    Leon (near pro-bowler)thank you Herm
    Harris (future pro-bowler)
Revis (you can see signs of shut down)
    Clemmens (who knows yet)

Throw in Brad Smith, Eric Smith, and Stuckey (if he can ever get healthy) and these guys are building a team.

I love the addition of Wallace Wrght who is a tremendous ST player and TJ who still ran for 1100 yards behind a piss poor OL. They have yet to make a splash in FA but I think year 3 will be that year. Max Starks is a guy I want to be our RT and if we get him I believe we are a guard away from an elite OL. It's crazy but one guy can make that big of a difference.

I think maybe the best sign we saw from Mangini came in training camp when they admitted they f'd up with Schlegel and cut his ass. Not too many teams will cut a 3rd round pick in only his 2nd season. That reeks of Bellichick and there was no lets hold on or he has potential. It was you're not what we're looking for so see ya!

On 2 or 3 occasions he had 'words' with Clemens from the sideline as well , which for me makes me think that MAYBE Clemens might get the Schlegal treatment, or do a few 100 laps

I hope some of you are banking on more than him second guessing his QB on a play where he thought he should have pullled it down and run for a first down. EM cursing a player who ordinarily doesnt have a problem running the ball is hardly grounds for celebration.

As a fully paid up member of the Darksiders I can say without hesitation that I could care fu**ing less that Gini is getting a little upset and using some 'bad' words. If this is a sign that the pressure is getting to him he better get it right next year. I can't remember in a long time thinking that we are so ruderless.

The one and only thing that I give Mangini credit for is that the team didn't quit on him down the stretch. Even though they sucked, they didn't mail it in. Other than that, this season was a total disaster both on the players side and the coaching side. Honestly, I'm glad it's finally over and I'm looking forward to the combine and draft. This whole season was F***ingbelievable.

I'm just happy that there was one instance in 2 years where when the camera focused on him, I didn't get to see his manic gum-chomping...

I liken it to the reaction of a chain smoker deprived of cigarettes for a month, given his first stick of Nicorette gum.

I don't remember which commentator it was last night , but he said he was at the Jets training and
which he believed was down to Mangini being relaxed.
