Really Champ...its very nice to see that you have changed your standards....so now its ok to pump up a team if they have a "better chance to win a superbowl" I thought your mantra was always "Win or else" Curious for you to name the future hall of famers currently residing on the roster of the powerful Eagles. What exactly is it about the Eagles that you feel they are so worthy of your respect...since they havent won a superbowl. Yes....some sarcasm....but Im just curious what the difference it NOW between a team that has a shot...to a team that has done it already.
Just one last thought Jets | Team offered Runyan $3.5 million per season Sat, 25 Mar 2006 13:54:26 -0800 Reuben Frank, of PhillyBurbs.com, reports the New York Jets offered free agent OT Jon Runyan (Eagles) $3.5 million per season. Runyan later turned down the offer to return to the Philadelphia Eagles for just over $4 million per year for three years. Surprise suprise he went for more money not less as others had reported... let this be the end of the story
Al, The more I read of your posts, the happier I am that you hate the way I post....wanting me to post like a "normal fan". If being a "normal fan", means whining about how we are hopless franchise and spouting off about how stupid everyone else is, I'll stick to my "ego-driven, psuedo-intellectual" style. To the specifics of your post, there is more to life than a higher paycheck (although, I am not surprised this is lost on you). If I were offered a job for 10 times my current salary in Arkansas, I wouldn't take it. No offense to anyone in Arkansas, it's just not for me. In a less extreme example, if I were offered 50% more to take a job in Philly (I am currently in the DC area), I'd consider it, but I probably wouldn't want to uproot my family. Runyan clearly wanted to stay where he was. It is not uncommon for players to test the market and then return to their own team. In fact, I heard Chris Baker the other day on NFL Radio say that is exactly what the Jets told him to do....and look where he ended up. If you ask me, fans like you have the loser mentality....not the team. XOXOXO, DbJ
My Dearest Al... please read the following and try not to choke on the Crow... Reuben Frank, of PhillyBurbs.com, reports the New York Jets offered free agent OT Jon Runyan (Eagles) $3.5 million per season. Runyan later turned down the offer to return to the Philadelphia Eagles for just over $4 million per year for three years. I love how the bashing continues here when people just don't know the facts... Ellis
Finally, you admit that there are other standards by which one can measure the worth of a team besides the number of Superbowl wins. By the way, I'm still not quite sure how the number of Superbowl wins correlates to how good a team is today because none or almost none of the players on that team are on the team today. What is your point with the NFL championship? You're just nitpicking.
Some people just will never be happy Ellis. These people want us to sign every high profile free agent for dirt cheap, and if they arent complaining about that...it's that all the FA's we're signing are old.. It just never ends..
Champ I don't buy this assumption at all. The Eagles had their run and my guess is they will try and patch it up and make another run with the same team another two or three times before having to do a full rebuild like we are now. I don't know if the current group has it in them to win or not but I think we are actually ahead of the Eagles as far as dealing with reality.
OK WB but I would say if you surveyed 50 so called "experts" 45 or so would still the Eagles are soaring faster then our NYJs cause of DmNab. If you go thru our roster you will find few if any game changing players at this time. Whereas the PEs do have Kearse & Dovonan so that makes them a better shot then us for a SB faster then us. Actually I really hope that I am not planted by the next time we are even close to the elite bracket of teams in the NFL. As they say our needs are great & unless the FO can see that we are on the same merry go round we have been on for 37 years which has gotten us nowhere. The Baker signing is a indication that cover of the book may have changed in Hempstead but the inside pages are the same pages used for the last 37 years
I do not understand what you are attempting to say. Nitpicking what nitpicking facts are facts & the fact is the NYJs have NEVER/EVER won a NFL championship. My goal has never changed SB championship or the season is not successful & all I am saying if you asked 50 so called "experts" & asked them who they thought is closer to winning a SB I would guess 45 would say the Eagles & 5 us which is what I was alluding to why JR stood in Philly.
Man you really have a wonderful ability to turn words around. I said that JR decided to stay in Philly probably cause HE perceives that the PEs have a better chance at a SB before us. That is it plain & simple & my credo that anything less then a SB win means a unsuccessful season remains totally & completely unchanged.
Who cares about being demolished since we like the Eagles have NEVER/EVER won a SB since that modern ear was establlished after the 70 SB no matter if you like that FACT or not. Also probably your memory is short so you forgot the PEs played in the SB the one before the last one. They also have Dov & Jer who are considered to be elite players in the NFL.
and if you asked all those experts - before last season - who was one of the closer teams to reaching the Superbowl, I'm sure not many of them would have picked the Seattle Seahawks. which leads me to my next point: the Seahawks have signed good free agents the past several years and I don't see many Superbowls on their resume. by your logic, no one would sign with them because of this; however, that's not the case. cheers
