Chad can't lead us to a victory against a team of Tennessee's caliber at the moment. The Jets can win if Albert Haynesworth does not play or if Vince Young plays terribly. That's about their chances at this point. They're real chances, which is why I see the game being closer than it should be, but they're not likely to happen.
These are the guys to fix our OL LG Jacob Bell (titans free agent) RT Michael Oher (low - mid first rounder?)
so do you change to a guy that is less predictable so you can win more or lose by less? I think i'd prefer the guy who is pretty much the same guy every time he steps onto the field...
They are 8-6 and in a duel with Cleveland for the last wildcard spot. They will be more than motivated for our game. I really do not think we will have to make excuses about Chad beating the Titans because I seriously do not think it will happen. We are an offense that can't run and now can't really throw (or should I say can't throw as a one-dimesinial team). Now, if you can't run and that definitely effects how productive you can be throwing, it puts the JEts only game changing attribute at the Special Teams positions. I can;t discount that Leon may do something special or we may be able to pin the Titans inside the 10 a couple of times, but I don't think it will be enough.
so with a very good o-line, in Chad we have a QB to deliver the ball accurately extremely often, and a very proficient play action QB. with a great o-line and Kellen, what might we have? (keep in mind, i'm not asking what we would have today. I understand Kellen still could develop a bit, but what, from what you've seen thus far, could you see Kellen bringing to the table with a solid o-line?)
I can't say Chad is predictable, but our current offense with Chad is very predictable. We haven't been able to run all year, except for amybe 1 or 2 games and haven't been able to have dominate running all year. That means that you have to rely on the QB's arm. Chad will be forced to throw short mostly because he will have no time. Any of Chad's longer pass plays are brought about by play action which defenses are not buying anymore. We don't have the same offensive line as in 2001 through 2004 and a relatively healthy Curtis Martin. That makes a huge difference. When Chad is given the benefit of a good ground game and reasonable protection he is much less predictable because he is a good field general. His current situation magnifies his short cummings.
hey im from waterbury, ct and go to school in danbury during the semester i get both the jets and apts game but in waterbury they choose the pats over the jets, since they are playing at the same time does anyone know how i can go about ordering the game or how i could watch w/o hittin a bar
Much. I think Kellen is a bit shell shocked already because he has taken some pretty nasty hits; that has to play with his head. If we had a good offensive line KC would have more time and he does have a good arm and when he does have time he is pretty accurate, and he can make throws that Chad simply can not. Kellen is much more mobile, too. A good running game would help they guy out a lot too. That way he wouldn't always be trying to win the game with his arm. I think the only real intangible aspect of KC over Chad is arm strength. That plays into our future because if we get a down the field threat along with correction of the offensive line it may add key catalist to our ability to run the ball. One can more or less feed off of the other. The only area that I have left judement on is, does kellen have the smarts. Nobody can question Pennington's mental leadership and preparation. Kellen also needs to demonstrate that - I can't say right now.
so would you admit that kellen is an ultimate downgrade, starting simply because he offers more versitility given our sub-par o-line, but given a good o-line chad would be better? If not, why would Kellen be better than Chad, given a good line?
sorry - I didn't see this post at first. I actually disagree that Kellen is a better downfield option. Chad has made some amazing downfield throws, he just rarely attempts them. I think it's b/c he absolutely will not throw the ball unless the thinks it is a high percentage chance for a catch. I remember a throw kellen made downfield to Justin a couple of games ago, where he wasn't open at all, it totally could have been an int but McCeirens fought for it (for once). The thing I will say that Kellen edges Chad over on is zip. I hate that word after reading this forum for over a year but its true, Kellen can deliver the ball quicker - with a quicker release to receivers by the sideline.
I DON"T WANT HIM ANYWHERE NEAR THIS TEAM ANYMORE. He seems to be a good guy, but he is not a good QB. Period. I want to win. CHad cannot do that. Hence he needs to go, and we need to stop hearing about him. The sooner he is gone the better it is for the entire Jets organization and for the Jet (not Chad only) fans.
I have said it since the beginning of the year, Penny has given 110% effort since he was the starter in 02. This guy came back from two big surgeries to win comeback player of the year last year and help us to the playoffs. This guy has given his heart and soul to this team, I think he deserves better then what some have given him.
If you are more loyal to Chad than to the team, then yes you are not a true fan. If you would be at all conflicted next year if Chad starts against the Jets, you are not a true fan.
