It will be interesting to see how this guy can handle his 3rd season in the league, when you consider that for playing time purposes, it really equates to his rookie season all over again. From what I remember he didn't see very much time in his first year due to an early injury. The 2nd year he goes ahead and decides to try riding a motorcycle, resulting in severe internal injuries. So far this year he's not in the news, so I'm assuming he's healthy. I am very curious to see how a guy can rebound from so much time off in the league, given the early raves about him, coupled with his standing in the draft. For a while there, we were being led to believe that he was nearly the 2nd coming of christ in TE form. Thoughts?
Browns TE Kellen Winslow underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in January. The Browns are downplaying the minor surgery, saying that he's already working out every day." But Winslow has struggled since tearing his ACL in a motorcycle accident, with a serious staph infection and now this. He's someone to watch closely all summer. Mar. 24 - 9:18 am et I just read this on rotoworld.com
He'll probably handle it much like this... HAW! EDIT: And, isn't he Kellen Winslow III formerly known as Junior a/k/a King George the II? Whatever.
He broke his leg as a rookie in special teams covering an onside kick against Dallas. Call K2 what you want, but he gives all he has on the field. I still feel very strongly that he'll be a special player once he's healthy. I hope that all he's gone through has matured him, but not taken away that edge that gets him to that next level. Kid has the talent to dominate the TE position.
I hope he soldiers his way back to the field and kicks some Steeler ass this season. Way back in October I was saying the Browns will be a 2006 playoff team. If Winslow can play they could be a division winner.
Wow. A positive comment about a Cane? I'm touched man. Especially Kellen, after he made The Catch against WVU and everything.
For some reason I was unable to see that game. Was that a Thursday night game? I may have been in a night class at Seton Hall. I also missed that great run by Quincy Wilson, which was in the same game, right? I don't have a problem with Miami, really. It's just that "U" stuff that becomes grating.
Yeah, it was a Thursday night game. All that was in the same game. If my memory serves me, Quincy's run (including the manhood destruction of Brandon Meriweather) set up a TD that put them ahead by 1 or 2. Then Miami got the ball back, and drove downfield, K2's catch was on a 4th down that gave them a first in WVU territory, then they kicked a FG to win. I understand about the U thing, I know it gets on a lot of people's nerves. The reason that canes fans support that so much is that there are people out there who just completely hate Miami for absolutely no reason, so it's a bit of a defense mechanism.
Okay, that's cool. Any hatred I have for college teams is usually directed at Michigan in part because my best friend (a huge college football fan) absolutely abhors Michigan. Funny Miami story for you. I think the game was in 1992. Horace Copeland scored a touchdown against a directional school (or perhaps it was just some lowly Big East team, I don't recall exactly) and did a somersault in the end zone. Then, a flag was thrown on the Miami offense. The cornerback who was covering Copeland, then did a somersault of his own.
Yep, that sounds like Miami to me. Of course, if it was nowadays, it would have went more like this: Ryan Moore drops a sure Touchdown, goes over to the sideline, where Coker says "Nice effort son, that's all I could ever ask." To which Moore responds with a "Thanks coach, yipee" as he does his flip in delight.
He's a F'n warrior. An F'n warrior with a peg leg. I hope that A'hole's been humbled by that stupid motorcycle incident.
Injuries on the field are an occupational hazard and fair enough, but "what he has gone through" over that blockhead motorcycle incident was his own doing. I can't help but stick it to him there. I hope for his sake he can turn it around.
Yeah, the most I've seen was a clip of his injury on ESPN, and an MPEG of him being absolutely lit up in Tennessee.
I've thought this guy was a piece of shit since day one. He's a soldier! (not to be confused with the real soldiers risking their lives in the Middle East, of course). Has he caught a pass yet?
IF HEALTHY...Cleveland can have a very potent offense getting back Winslo Jr. and Braylon Edwards... Frye...Droughns...Edwards...Winslow Jr...Jurevicious and Northcutt is pretty good on paper. Making OLine improvement with Schaffer and Bentley, not bad at all.
The most talented TE that I've seen. His real knock coming out of UM was his blocking which I always said was a joke. He puts in so much effort which makes made up for his 'technique'(s). That may not work in the NFL, but my point is he's always been hated and the media were picky about giving him his fair share of credit. Watching him next season is definately one of the things I am looking forward to the most in '06. It's all about this U.
He caught five passes for 50 yards in two games in 2004. He was injured on an onside kick with eight seconds remaining in Week 2 of 2004 against the Cowboys. He hasn't played since.
^Then he went and popped some wheelies, and the rest is history. EDIT: Can someone please tell me what's wrong with my brain?! I consistently leave words out of a sentence or I repeat the same word twice. What the hell is up with that?! OK, I'm done freaking out. As you were.
