Just for everyone who said we should have grabbed Marcus MacNeill later on in the '06 draft and passed on D'Brick:

Don Banks of si.com listed Marcus MacNeill as the runner-up for most disappointing tackle of 2007, behind the Saints' Brown.

The jury is still out, folks. We may have the best tackle of the 2006 draft. Just need some weight. We get this man some milkshakes, some pizza, some HGH, we'll be set.

(Troubling footnote to Don Banks' All-Disappointment Team: Eric Mangini is the coach.)

HGH wouldn't be a good idea.

I'm glad somebody finally posted it. If anyone saw that Chargers/Titans game they got to see how bad he has been this year. What's somewhat ironic to me is that he is having more trouble when teams bull rush him then D'brick has had this year. This just shows how important technique and leverage are, he still needs some weight gainer though.

This may be one of the rare cases in NFL history where an offensive tackle has a serious weight problem.....on the light side

He's going to be very good. I feel like if engages someone they can't get away from him since his arms are so long. He seems to get beat when he's out of position and someone just flat out beats him without him getting a hand on them. Once he fixes that flaw he should be as good a pass rusher as you'll find. Run blocking is a different story.

    Yup.

I'd like him better if they were able to run to his side more consistently.

I really dont think many are down on his pass blocking skills - He is not Great but definitely serviceable. There is however a huge problem with his run blocking which will keep him an average LT at best.

A good guard would work wonders.

We all would like him a hell of a lot more if they did not have that black hole of suck between him and Mangold.

BTW he finally pancaked a couple this Sunday. Hopefully this starts a trend.

still wont be worth the number 4 overall pick...joe thomas is already a lot better than brick...hes just way too skinny in my opinion...this team really really really needs brick to work out or else we are in trouble

watch kyle vanden bosch pass rush against brick next weekend...i want to see if brick can keep him off clemens...hes a quality pass rusher

I know it is about time brick went against a decent pass rusher.

Joe Thomas was not in the same draft as Brick so it's not like the Jets passed on him. Brick seems to do fine pass blocking bigger guys. Once he engages a pass rusher they are pretty much useless.

Joe Thomas was almost in the same draft class. Who do you guys think we would have taken if Joe Thomas hadn't gotten hurt and entered the 2006 draft?

Man did you see McNeil his rookie year! We should of drafted him instead!

    I'm glad I've been patient with D'Brick...

    I'm happy.

best LT in the class is too early to tell. all the tackles selected have been pretty inconsistent but both mcneil and dbrick look like they can hold steady and be solid players in the nfl for a long time with more experience

Yep. Plug the gap between Brick and Mangold with a stud LG. After that, no excuses.

Th problem is that when you give him all this stuff he doesn't eat it. (story i heard from a pre-draft prospect dinner in '06)
