I guess that you weren't paying attention when we offered Abe a VERY GENEROUS contract, one which he turned down but was later accepted by Ellis?

Here's the interesting thing: I see it as the other way around. I think Hobson just sucks and Thomas is the one playing out of position. Last season the Jets finally got a decent year out of Thomas as the right outsilde linebacker. Their answer to that was to sign Thomas to a big contract and then shift his position?

I keep wondering what bright light came up with "let's pay the guy a ton of money and then throw everything up in the air again by moving him to LOLB", a position with more responsibility in the 3-4...

The real question is why, having been spurned by JAbe, the Jets decided Ellis was worth just as much as him? Makes no sense at all outside of Bradway's mind.

I agree. Given Ellis' level of play, he is being grossly overpaid for his services.

Yes, let's cut every player on the team that pisses people off. I understand we don't have a team full of pro-bowlers, but we can't just cut everyone without a sufficient replacement on the roster. If they did have a sufficient replacement on the roster they'd already be starting.

I agree w/what you are saying about how bad it is to have a knee-jerk cut him or trade him reaction to every player who underperforms. Its just that Ellis has had plenty of time & plenty of chances to perform and he just hasnt come through w/a consistent season other than the year he went to the Pro-Bowl (he did go 1 yr once, didnt he?). To me, he is another one of those guys that fit in the 4-3, not the 3-4. And lets face it --- w/the current FO + HC, we are not going back to 4-3, even if we mix it up once in a while. For crying out loud, I'm at the point where I say that we could put rotate CJ Mosley & Mike DeVito in there & we get almost the same results for $250k - $400k per year rather the $4.5 million that Ellis costs us!

You take a guy like Kerry Rhodes ---- that guy will certainly be worth the $$ we are going to spend to keep him long term.

In no way am I defending Ellis' play in relation to his contract. I'm speaking generally about all the cut this guy threads we see in here. By the way if Mosley and DeVito would get the same results why don't we see more of them? Because they haven't shown enough to take Ellis' spot is why.

The NFL is a business and decisions like this are based on a number of different variables that don't exist in madden. All these threads are beginning to wear on me.

Who would we have playing Center right now? Not Mangold if Abe is here.

Abe was often injured, not happy, and wanted out. We now have a very young Center playing at a high lvl becasue we parted ways with him. I'm at a loss that people continue to ask why we did not keep him.
