in his 50th NFL start eli Manning is now 13/36 with 4 picks. three of them were ran back for td's. This is when you start panicking if thats your qb. Not 5 starts into a career. Eli has plenty of time in the pocket he just blows.
It's pretty obvious that if Eli's last name wasn't Manning, no one would think of him as anything other than just another QB.
50 starts, no reason why he shouldn't be much better then this. Giants will have to really think about drafting a qb the next two years.
I never understood the big whoop about this guy out of college. Family name is really irrelevant. His father was never really a superstar NFL QB, bad team or not. He was a very good, not elite, collegiate quarterback, and again, really, family name is irrelevant. Did anyone watch Mike Maddux pitch? How did Ted William's son do? The worst part for Giants fans is that this guy will probably rebound and finish the season with a mediocre QB rating. He's not "quite" bad enough and they've invested far too much to warrant admitting their tremendous mistake. -X-
Your second paragraph was good. As for the first one, he was not drafted because he is Archie Manning's son and Peyton Manning's brother.
Granted, he would have been drafted, but his lofty draft day status was absurd. There were people predicting he could be even better than his brother. The prognosticators were completely ridiculous, and all because the kid's name was Manning. Meanwhile, Rivers and Roethlisberger were equivalent or better in so many ways but no one would say it. -X-

(not a compliment to Pennington in any way) but hey, if a 17 year old girl finds that statement hilarious, I'll just pat myself on the back Sad thing is, Chad doesn't start anymore for a 2-9 team, but Eli still starts for a 7-4 team. He's no worse than many top picked QBs, but certainly no better. He's a very mediocre player with the ability to either be completely brilliant or godawful. I don't see how he's overhyped though, considering how everyone thinks he's a bust and a bum. I'll still take him over Phillip Rivers 7 days a week and twice on Sunday.
Id take Ben Roethesberger directly after his bike accident over Eli Manning...you cant even compare these two
Also he is over hyped because he was worth Phillip Rivers, Shawne Merriman, Nate Kaeding to the New York Football giants. Also, he has pocketed over $25 million already in his career. including signing and roster bonuses.
