From Football's Future (http://footballsfuture.com/2008/nfl/freeagentsOL.html), this is a list of the supposedly top OL that'll be available -- any of who the Jets may show interest in. who do y'all want?
Ruben Brown or Floyd Womack provide the best ideas as stop gap players, allowing you to look forward to the next draft or two.....
I like Starks and Scott off that list, they would be great additions and not overly high in breaking the bank
I thought Stacy Andrews is a FA, too, this year!?! If i could pick one of those it would be Starks. Faneca is overrated. He?s one of the best Runblocking Gs in the game, but he?s pretty poor at Pass protection. Don?t get me wrong, i would like to see him next to Brick, but i think he?ll get way overpaid for a guy with his passblocking. Lilja would be a great signing, too.
i like Starks too. says he's a RT, so maybe if they're not sold on Bender as the starter to replace Clement, then they go after Starks. Womack sounds good too.
You people have to be kidding. Starks lost his starting job to Wllie Colon who sucks. Faneca is over the hill. The Steelers fans know their line sucks, the last thing we need is Faneca and Starks.
I like Floyd Womack and Stacy Andrews too huge o-lineman who can stuff the d-line backwards for a change. Womack is 6'4 330 and 29 years old and Andrews is 6'7 342 and just 26. Faneca is great against the rush but just ok against the pass and jakes scott is too small , he'll sign with the colts anyway.
Lilja might be a good fit though it might take me 10 games to finally complain when "Pork Chop" Womack sucks ass. Though I am not a big fan of FA, basically every team is under the cap and alot of players are going to get overpaid. I wouldnt be suprised to see him get a 5 yr 25 mil deal. its just the way the FA market has been going the last few yrs.
Brown and Starks should be targeted. Also drafting a Guard would totally revamp our offensive line. The only starters retained being Brick and Mangold. Just what I'd like to see.. Good to know that there are some quality OL this offseason.
We have ATTACK in the FA this offseason, not sit back and do nothing like last year. Get a bunch of guys for the line, both offensive and defensive. By doing that, we can concentrate on drafting more playmakers.
Starks lost his starting job to a younger player, I wouldn't exactly call him top tier. That being said, I still think he would be a valuable pick-up and a sure way to upgrade the o-line at RT.He's still young, 26 in January, and the only reason he lost his starting job is because the Steelers like all their linemen to play all five positions and Starks had problems at LT and OG. He's strong, he's big (6'8" 332lbs. always comes into the pizza shop I work at in Pittsburgh and takes up about 2-3 bodies worth of counter space) and he's a mauler.
