Would you trade Vilma to try to move up to the first pick and take Mcfadden. The Jets are probably going to be in the top five of the draft.

Mcfadden will be there when we pick and vilma is a goner

  3. Vilma is a goner. We will likely get a late first/early second for him.

W/ that pick i expect us to go OL or trade down to acquire more picks..

Yes, but for nothing less than a first.

I think we will be able to get McFadden where we will end up, and then use the other pick to build up the defense or offensive lines

  5. We'll likely use that vilma pick to trade down and stockpile.

Trade Vilma for McFadden? You must be kidding...

We will trade Vilma for a 1st or 2nd...if at all....If the Jets somehow get a very big body at NT in FA, then dont look for Vilma to move.

as for McFadden, the Jets will not draft him

What team is going to give up great value for a player coming off of season ending surgery?

If he did have the micro-surgery and has a long period of rehab, what team is going to give up a high draft pick for him before he shows he can come back from it?

It wouldnt surprise me if he starts next season on the PUP list.

Is next years draft a strong one? It seems more likely that we trade up for a guy they love (given our history) then to wait for someone to fall to them or to trade down to get more picks.

Vilma trade threads are like periods, you can count on them every month.

Hell no. He is Talent and Talent @ the LB spot is primo in a 3-4.
The problem here is that he isn't being used properly/in the right mode.

Ask yourself this, what would Parcells do even bell-a-chick?
They'd most likely get him into position that allows him to make plays.

Only for a really sweet deal.

We get a man-mountain at NT and Vilma and Harris will be one of the best pairs of ILB's in the league for 5-7 years.

We need a NT and a OG on day one of the draft. ANything else is gravy.

Im hesitant on trading Vilma , I Think with a big true Nose Tackle and another pas rushing LB along with the emergence of david harris keep vilma and let em make plays.

Better question is does Vilma want to get traded?

I am sure the answer is fuck yeah. He does not fit into this system well. He is not the right fit and does not have the talent for the 3-4. He is fine for a 4-3 team with a good D-line and he has to know this.

Anyway injury and all, the Jets FO would be lucky to get a 3 or extremely lucky for a 2 for him.

Absolutely, but I wouldn't give him away. We would need to get equal value for him. Personally I'd love a Vilma for Suggs trade. But I wouldn't use him to move up in the draft. If we can't get McFadden at the spot we draft then we don't get McFadden IMO

The FO already tried to trade Vilma to Washington last offseason, now that we actually have a young ILB that is capable of doing the job, I think it's almost guaranteed that he gets traded when it is possible.

But I doubt we get anything near a 1st rounder for a specialty player like him coming off that injury.

"Specialty player"? I'm not sure what you mean, but he would do a great job as a MLB for someone like he was with us for 2 years.

Vilma isn't even a textbook MLB in the 4-3, he's a finesse guy that relies on speed but does great when he has ideal protection from his front 4. I don't think you can just plug him into any garden variety 4-3 and he'll all of a sudden make the team better, unless they have some big bastards in front of him.. They wanted Ray Lewis junior for a specific 4-3 alignment. That's what I mean by 'specialty' and I think you'll see it when we trade him to a new team.
