How can we?? We already got 3 guys. If we drafted a rb who gets cut?? 1.Curtis isnt going anywhere 2.blaylock is cheap and cost more to cut 3.houston is young with lots of upside maybe even a future starter Would we carry a 4th rb?? These 3 guys can get the job done. I know we need to thing about the future but we will have a much better idea of the rb postion after the season
Houston is got a very good chance of being a solid if not all pro RB with a solid OL (Brick. would help) and a passing game. He played ok at the end of the year. Curtis I am affraid is at the end of his playing days and Blaylock is just there. So we either hope that Houston is going to be the man or we should trade him for what I have know idea.
I hope Blaylock and Houston get a lot of carries, we need to see what we have with one of them for next year. Hopefully Mangini isn't like Herm with Curtis, and gives him carries out of respect.
I don't see how D'brick would help Houston if his biggest knock is his lack of elite run blocking ability, the "mean-streak" rather that keeps him out of the class of Pace, Jones, and Ogden.
I do not trust our running game going into next season but as you have stated we have 3 and most likely will not carry 4, I want Maurice Drew but I know that he will end up somewhere else, just as long as it isn't the pats I am fine. I do not think Blaylock would be here except for the fact that he is to expensive to cut
Ok if not D'brick how about Mangold he is a great college center good run blocker it would be nice if we still had Kevin but whatever we don't. We also could get a real FB like Bernstein (WIS) he is not very fast but block like a son of a bitch and has that blue collar attitude that a true fullback needs. If he worked on his pass catching he could be the type of fullback that Rathman was with SF.
If we get the OL fixed then the running game will come around this year! I think Curtis's has 1 if not 2 years left and if they split the carries between him and Houston then they'll both be fresh all year and will gain over 1600 yards combined.
I think you can pretty much forget about Maurice Drew being drafted by the Jets since they signed Tim Dwight.
I've been waiting for a half hour to see if someone would write, "You dolt! Drew is a running back and Dwight is a wide receiver." I guess no trolls or Falcons fans are here right now. The Jets wouldn't draft Drew because his value is as a punt returner and Dwight was signed for that duty. I think it is at best a 1% chance the Jets draft Drew.
No skill position is out of the realm of possibility, no matter the depth on the roster. Should, say, one of the agents for Cutler or Leinart release some damaging info on Reggie Bush the week before the draft, his stock could drop to the 4 pick. Stranger things have happened.
we should hold out this year then late in the draft next year pick up Brian Leonard from Rutgers. Kid is a tank.
If we're still sitting at #29 and Mangold is off the board and Maroney is still available, I would not have a problem with that pick.
I am still reading treads about taking a RB. Would we cut blaylock?? Curtis isnt going anywhere and it makes no sense to cut houston
I hate threads like this because you and I have no idea whether or not the Jets will not draft a RB for sure...
The only place we draft a rb which I agree we won't(way too many other needs to address).. would be Maroney at 29 and with the lack of need of rb by many teams we may even get a chance at 35
I can see the Jets taking Lendale or Deangelo Williams if they start to fall. However with the depth the Jets currently have, I don't think they waste their time on the 2nd/3rd round quality RB's like Calhoun, Maurice Drew, etc.
