They said last season they have to catch the Pats and look what the Pats did so MAYBE just maybe Woody will open his wallet somemore and Eric will take the path BB is and that bring in players who help you win and forget about the charcter BS.

How long did it take for the Patriots to start spending money like they did this year? How many SBs have they won without doing what they did this year?

They are rewriting the coaching handbooks. they have gone and done it their way and its worked. A team of relative nobodies , a QB from the 7th round for crissakes and now they sprinkle some pro bowl calibre players amongst them. This dynasty just uped the anti big time.
Woody would be a fool if he thought that just merely throwing money at the team will instantly make it a divional contender.
If Manginis plan is to work we are going to have to wait a while , maybe quite a while, more.

It's both. They knew they needed receivers and linebackers after last year. They spent the money and one lowly 4th round draft pick to get everything they needed. We could have done the same. We chose to sign people who hadn't played ball in years instead.

    Talent evaluation! Absolutely right.

Free agency is important, but you need to find good value in the draft with good picks in the middle and late rounds.

You can try to buy a championship team, but you have to hope the right players are available at the right time, and you can manage the cap well. Eve then, your window is short....2 or 3 years...

To have a sustainable championship calibre team, there is just no way to do it without getting good picks late in the draft, give them quality coaching and development, and use them as much or more as you use the free agents.

The coach can only work with the talent he is given...it is the front office and scouts that can make or break a dynastic team.

This is true. Its the draft and coaching that makes a great team. Not buying Players.

Look at Pittsburgh. They let thier big time free agents walk almost ever time and rarely skip a beat.

Oh noes, Porter left town!! James Harrison not only replaced him, but is out doing him at the position. They've seen lots of good players go. Plug the hole with someone they had drafted and move on.

How often do they change coaches? Once a decade or so. They are patient. One bad season does not resualt in upheaval.

The Jets need to build through the draft first and then spend on the big time free agents when the core is in place.

I'm not sold on all the things Mangini and company are doing, but feel that ripping everything apart now only sets the team back. They have drafted very well. Adding soild starters in the draft as well some potential in the later rounds.

The pats had the player in place to win. They need a few parts and got them in a big way this year.

As soon as the Colts beat them in the playoffs. they knew that got away with not spending money but they relize they have to make some moves to beat the Colts and DAMN did they do that

That was one play only one sack. I wouldn't say "dominated", also Harrison is playing @ a very high level. D'brick has been playing solid IMO.

It was more just timing, I think...Adalius was available, so they went out and got him. Stallworth as well. They happened to be out there when the Pats had cap room.

Welker and Moss they traded for...I'm not sure if they count. Moss actually took a cut in pay from the contract he had already, so it's not like they are paying big money for him.
