Schilling, Red Sox agree on deal for '08 The Boston Red Sox today agreed to terms with righthanded pitcher Curt Schilling on a one-year contract for the 2008 season. No terms were disclosed. Schilling, who had been eligible for free agency, returns for a fifth season in Boston after originally being acquired by the Red Sox in a trade with Arizona in November 2003. In 2007, the righthander, who will celebrate his 41st birthday on November 14, was 9-8 with a 3.87 earned run average in 24 regular season starts.
i heard it was 1 year, 8 mill, with 2 mill in incentives. far below the 13 mil that schilling said he wanted
The 2 million is contingent on his passing weigh-ins. There are additional incentives that add up to 4 million more, like Cy Young votes, innings pitched...the usual stuff. Max would be 14.
This is bad news, Scilling obviosuly isn't the same physically but he's still a winner and if he left it would have created a big hole in that rotation. Another great job by the Sox FO.
