If the Jets lose tomorrow (which they will) and the Rams beat the Niners. Do we finish better this season than the Rams? I don't think so.
The Jets will find a way to win at least another game or two this season and screw up on getting McFadden.
I think Kellen will win us a game or two, but I still think the Rams finish with more wins. On another note, we need the 49ers to win some more games. The Pats get their first round pick and as of right now it would be number 4.
one thing that's been noticable is McFadden's lack of production with a banged up Felix Jones. maybe he's overrated afterall. i've been supporting trading down, but i've also been supporting drafting McFadden -- now, i'm not so sure about him anymore.
The Jets are a lock for the top 5 and since they have so many holes to fill, it won't matter is it's #5 or #1...we need a player to build around. Whether it be on offense or defense. McFadden? Sure...Chris Long? Sure...Just get us someone in here.
look at it this way, we are guaranteed a great picking position, what we do with it yet to be determined... Kellen, nice username, when did you make the switch?
Arkansas has one of the worst passing offenses in college football...it's hard to rip off 300 yard games every week when teams are stacking the box with 9 guys. McFadden isn't overrated, he just isn't Superman. He ran for over 300 yards on a pretty damn good South Carolina defense. That game alone puts him in the top 5. Sure, Felix Jones helps McFadden stay fresh, but Felix Jones wouldn't be doing what he's doing on teams without McFadden. Jones runs against defensive players that are worn down from stopping McFadden. There's been no lack in production from McFadden, he just hasn't ran for 300 yards again. He ran for 100 on Tennessee last week and had around 100 total yards today. Both are good backs, but guys like McFadden -- players with that power and speed combo -- don't come around often. We don't need him, but picking him couldn't hurt.
If Miami beats us with Ricky Williams and Beck do we end up with the #1 pick? That should be the questions here. We have history on our side here. The Jets were the only team to lose to the 1-15 1991 Colts.
The Jets are going to win just enough games to put us one draft pick away from that one player we REALLY need. That being said, we're definitely picking in the top 5.
It will be the ultimate irony and slap down if we pick behind the Pats. If that happens everybody should be fired.
Drafting a runningback next year in the first round would likely put the Jets in the cellar of the AFC East for several years. Runningback is last piece to take on that side of the ball after the offensive line is fixed.
I don't think that drafting another RB is all that far away. If the calibre of player like Bush was available , we should not pass that up. TJ looks after himself and maybe we could get 2 maybe 3 more years out of him , but in that time I would expect the heir apparent to be drafted or traded in. I read in another thread that both Leon and TJ on a team with a good Oline would be dynamite , we need to see if we can do that first.
the Jets have so many holes to fill maybe they should consider trading the pick for a few more picks later in the draft. Just a thought.
I Think we win 2 more games but then again our defense is horrendous doesent look like we could stop a pop warner team.
Leon Washington is going to be a fine back in a 2-back system in a season or two. Spending a lot of value and cap space to obsolete him would be short-sighted. What the Jets need to do right now is go find a Mike Alstott type to complement Washington and take 35-40% of the carries. You can find that kind of back anywhere on the first day and probably into the 4th round also.
