We know he will be an UFA this year and there will be very little talent available in the market. He will cost big money but I believe the Jet's should make a run.
If we sign Samuel to the money he wants after trading up for Revis, I lose all hope for this franchise.
Having Samuel and Revis in the secondary would be incredible. The only way I would want to sign him is if we already beef up the lines.
With the salary cap I'd second-guess a decision to have two highly paid cornerbacks with all the present holes on the team.
OK, let's suppose this happens: We have 2 shutdown corners and no pass rush. That's a receiver open every time if the opposition knows how to game plan. Plus, you have to take into account that Samuel is that good because of his front 7, and probably wouldn't be as good on a team like ours with no pass rush. We also just mortgaged half our draft and paid big money for a CB. It's not gonna happen. Better scenario: Cheap-ass Woody gets us the best rusher in the game in Terrell Suggs. The QB doesn't have time to throw, and our shutdown corner and his well-coached backfield mate look like all-stars. Ain't no way we get Samuel...keep dreamin.
Why? If we have cap space why wouldn't we go and get a shut down corner back? Many of the best defenses has/had 2 great cornerbacks. It would give us tremendous flexibility in the defensive playcalling.
That would certainly be a better way to spend what probably ends up being the same amount of money. The problem is I can't see this team spending the money on either. There idea of making a big splash in free agency is to go out and sign a car salesman who hasn't played in the league for the last 6 years.
yeah I like Samuel, but honestly I think Dre' Bly would be a better fit with us, he would be cheaper he's better than Barret and Dyson combined and then we could also steal Suggs and then we look like Geniuses for the moves.
I think Randall Gay could be a good cheaper alternative. I remember we had him visit over the off-season.
great we'll have two great corners while the rest of the league decides they don't need to pass the ball to defeat us.
It is rather comical, isn't it? On a par with using our first pick in the draft to get another RB and still have no one who can open a hole or better yet, use it for another PK (we've done that before too).
Manballboy is dedicated to building through the draft. Anyway - what UFA or coach in their right mind would want to come to this dysfunctional disaster? Manballboy will be a lame duck next year and a 4 – 12 season will be the end of him.
That's an idea. If we sign every kicker in the league on our team then no other team will have kickers. We can both take credit for this idea.
As I have stated previously, the Jets need to build a good core of solid players, at all positins, before they start signing big name/big money players.
